If you can do that, thanks. I measured the VH45 piston set that I have and came out to 48.5mm. The FSM for the VK45 says that distance is 42mm. That is a huge difference of 6.5mm. Since both cars have the same rod length and stroke, and the rod journal center to main journal center are the same. That means that either the VK45 pistons are much shorter and the distance between the crown and rings are much smaller, or somewhere somehow the FSM is wrong .

Had you considered that the VK45 may have a shorter skirt on the piston? If they've got the same deck height, bore, stroke, and rod length, then they'll have the same compression height too... leaving the skirt depth as the remaining variable dimension.

I thought about that, but the difference in the FSM specification is still quite substantial that it would leave the bottom of the pin open and exposed to the crankcase.

Actually I believe he was banned. Not sure why, but I believe him to have been involved in an altercation with a mod. Hard to imagine banning someone that contributed so much to the forum.
