I posted this, but no one reads my threads (I don't blame them) so, here goes:

I'm smelling gas on my dipstick. What smells like a decent amount.

Car feels okay, how screwed am I?

*details edited out, I'm going to get a compression test and try to pretend nothing's wrong until something bad happens*

Change your oil immediately. You should be OK, but I wouldn't run it any longer than absolutely necessary. How did it get gas in the oil to begin with? Leaky injector?

I don't have a SOHC KA, but if I had to guess I'd say the top 2 coolant hoses go to the heater core, not sure which order (or if the order even matters). Yeah, I'd say the bottom goes to the intake manifold. GOod luck!

Ok, this is going to be a stupid question. Get ready. Good? Ok. I just received my Cibie housings. I'm going to install them but I was wondering if I could just get away with the way my headlights are currently aimed with the stock sealed DOT headlamps(they were aimed at a shop under the previous owner) without it completely blinding oncoming traffic. This is just a matter of laziness as I have no proper wall to be able to be 25 feet away while being free from distractions nearby where I live.

You probably will. You honestly don't have a wall anywhere near you? Just go to the movies or something while its still day, and adjust them when you leave and its dark out.

Before you do this, if you haven't yet; You can get away with unhooking the spring, then the headlamps just slide right out without moving the adjustment screws. I figured this out after time and time again of readjustments.

the exhaust should fit whether the car is turbo or not. It bolts onto the cat (or test pipe) then the downpipe, which in most cases has the same pattern, so it should bolt up. You should be more interested in the diameter piping you decide. Most turbo cars get 3" exhaust to reduce back pressure and allow the motor to breathe more. But for an NA, a 3" exhaust is too much and sometimes decreases torque in the low end. Do more research and come to a decision. I've got a 2.5", and if I went turbo, I think that would be good enough, it's not like I'll be having a 500hp motor that needs to breathe THAT much. :)

i feel this question didnt deserve its own thread, so here we go
im doing the 4 to 5 lug conversion in the rear on an s13, and i could not for the life of me, remove the hub and bearing.
i read around the i needed to remove the knuckle and all that and slide the spindle out from the rear.
well, this is where i stopped:
Image
my question is how the hell can i get the hub and bearing off?

Good question... I've never changed a wheel bearing on a 240. If you provide more pics, I might be able to help. Have you checked the FSM?

The way i got them out was by loosening the 4 bolts, but nt removing them completely, and then use a hammer to hit the bolts 1 by 1 cross wise ( so first top left> bottom right> bottom left> top right etc.), eventually they came out.
You will have to remove the part of the driveshaft that is still in there, remove the nut on the left side of the picture (I really advise using an airjack if its stuck, trying to remove it by hand when its not attached to anything is a @#$ ) and tap the spline out.
This was on several EU spec S13's though, I dont know if a 240 is different.

Hello all checking in from Alabam. Man its hot down here and I need to get my A/C hooked up. I have a 96 240 with a S13 redtop. I think I have most of the parts I need from my 92 hatch. I know I need the bracket for the compressor and was wondering if anyone could direct me on how to get one. Pictures of anyones A/C set up would be a plus ( bracket, wiring, refig. lines etc). Thanks for any help.

You might want to make a new thread about that (possibly in the RWD SR forum). You MIGHT be able to use an AC bracket from a standard SR, but don't quote me on that.

Opinions on tint?

I'm about to get tint. I can get the darkest legal tint and the hatch tinted a shade or two darker, or dark, illegal tint all around. What are you're opinions on dark tint, not regarding legalities.

I've always wondered.. why do some people (especially racers/drifters) throttle on and off when engaging first gear or reverse?
I see people do this both for when creeping first gear/reverse or doing a hard launch.

Is it because it sounds cooler or does it have any functional purpose?

Because it sounds cool, TBH. Lol. it helps a little because you get more momentum without fully engaging the car in reverse. But don't thing it serves much purpose.

Well, www.tintlaws.com should tell you what is legal and what isn't.
I've never really cared about the tint laws, but here's some suggestions: Don't tint your back window darker than 20%. It will be a real PITA to see out of at night unless you have godly reverse lights. Everything is do as you please.

Damn and I was about to make my hatch DARKER than the rest of the windows because that's where most of the sun is coming from. I'll definitely reconsider.
Thanks,
Allen

You can try and use some of that mirrored/metallic tint. It should reflect heat better than just dark tint anyway. Just don't go for the full chrome look. That looks awful.
