The key to any cheap setup is the tune, everything else is personal preference. That being said...
The "generic" Ebay setup is a bottom mount setup, the safe way to do it is to use OEM stuff for the key parts. Here's my recipe for a reliable/cheap/fun setup on a DE. It's been said before, but I feel like typing.
stock mafs
sr 370cc injectors
OEM t25/t28
ROM tune (EFI Specialist, Enthalpy, JWT)
XS Power/SSA (Ebay) bottom mount manifold
Ebay SR turbo outlet
Ebay SR downpipe
Ebay FMIC kit
Cheapest legitimate BOV you can find
This setup will run you around a grand buying most of the stuff new, it will be cheaper if you get deals locally, and will get you a safe 225whp. You can spend a little more money and get bigger injectors/mafs, that will lay the groundwork for future setups that support more hp, the stock block can handle around 300whp with a safe tune.
Note - the stock mafs and 370cc injectors max out around the same time, so I wouldn't bother with a z32 mafs unless you go with 550cc's or bigger.
