Ok, so i have a question about the big three wiring install. I just had a custom box built for my soundstream t5-12, i have 0 gague power and ground wiring, and im going to be running about 900-1200 watts rms at 1 ohm. So i guess my question is, do i need to add 0 gague wiring from my alt to my positive terminal and two ground wires to the frame? someone told me it wasnt necessary unless i had a H.O. alt and yellow top battery, but doeas it make any difference, and what benefits do you get in the long run with this upgrade? any advice would be helpful, thanks a bunch.

I'm not a fan of the Big 3.

I'd recommend going with a Lineage Motorsport Energy Ground Transfer Kit, and having a local shop install it. It's $75.00 for the kit, but it provides you with a 5-point ground across the entire engine and chasis, helps reduce engine noise, and provides all the benefits of the Big 3 without splicing into any existing wiring. It also helps provide a little boost to horsepower, and increases throttle response.

It was actually engineered by a Top Gun instructor with RTTI (Rockford Technologies Technical Institute).

You can order one from Overdrive Audio in Jax, FL, numbers 904-636-7845.

I put a post up somewhere here showing it off before, but it probably got milled through.

dude, do NOT come into this forum spreading incorrect and incomplete information regarding audio setups...

this "ground energy transfer system" is nothing more than a grounding kit... daisy chaining ground points is NOT something new, and was NOT designed by your top gun pilot guy... the idea has been around for years...

however, a grounding kit ONLY addresses the ground points... the point of the big three is to provide a more contant source of 12 volt power to the alternator IN ADDITION to the factory positive cable from battery to alternator. there is no "splicing" involved in a big three kit... you add the positive cable in parallel to the factory cable, not spliced into or in place of...

in the future, be certain about what you post before you come here giving our members BAD INFORMATION!

I still don't think the OP needs a big 3 with the lowish power consumption of the system, but a grounding kit and big 3 are NOT the same thing. The big 3 addresses high current limitations that MAY exist in your car. The grounding kit addresses resistance/impedance issues that MAY exist on your car.

Theoretically, a combination of improved grounds AND larger "main circuit" would be ideal, but again, it depends on the actual needs of your vehicle.
