whats the budget on this project?
Yup Budget is just above 30k. I've broken it down like this:

TT clip: $2,600Parts: $18,000Rims: $4,300Tires: $2,000Body: $3,500Interior: $2,200

Tires, body work and interior are all that is left.

I bought mine here where I live as they show up somewhat frequently amongst the JDM importers here.

Man i'm looking at the size of the greddy intercoolers beside these ARC ones and the ARC's are MASSIVE compared to them! lol I might have them refurbished at a local rad shop and use them instead... they're easily 3" wider and 2" taller

A thirty thousand dollar Z upgrade??!!!?!?!?!!!

Why, that's the most financially irresponsible thing i've ever heard of!!

I like where your head's at. That's going to be one extreme Z.

i dont know what he bought the car for but i would say under 10k. but lets just say 10k. then with 30k-40k upgrades he has a 50k car.. which is practically new now or even better then new. if i had the money i would do the same.

you will have a ****ing fast z, and really nice exterior and interior. and im sure this car will be able to beat alot of other cars that cost 50k right of the lot. thats how i think of it.

for instance, why spend 30k on a 350z when you can get a clean 300ztt for 10k. NO BRAINER 300Z TT FTW!! 300z tt fast off the lot stock and has alot more potential.

Definitely the Z. ur exactly right. its ur project car. you put passion into into a car like this and thats what make it unique and your own creation.

Ok so all motor work this weekend, going to see if I can get the powertrain done this weekend and then removal of NA powertrain and brake/suspension work the following weekend. After that we put it all together and flatbed it off to the tuning shop and body shop and some time after that interior and ICE

edit: captions ready

mmm, goodies:

more goodies:

yup, you guessed it, goodies:

Looks like somebody had a twin-disc clutch in there, pretty finished too by the looks of it:

Just how much bigger the ARC's are:

sport 700BB's beside ?? (see my other thread if you know what they are)

This is the result of sitting for months without proper antifreeze mixtures (water is common in japan as they do not have to deal with sub-0 temperatures or high-mileage)

A little bit of oil on the inside of the vtc sprocket... will need to be looked into.

As she sits now, we have plenum off, harness off and awaiting new clips for new style injectors and new TPS.

Pan is coming off shortly so I can take measurements of the mains to get new ones. (Found out after we put the engine on the mount that the tranny brackets we used to mount it on have to come off in order to remove the oil pan).

Progress was slower than expected but fuсk are those clips they put on the turbo's a pain in the *** to get off. After that it was pretty progressive.

Next weekend we'll get the engine back together and maintenance work done.

Progress is elusive... still on engine build-up...

Got the crank pully off finally, jesus that was hell. Had to drill and tap two holes in the crank gear and then rig up a pully solution (first two pics) to get it off!

Other than that, we got the new mounts on, cleaned up as much surface rust as we could on the front side of the engine...

Got a peek at the cylinders from the bottom end, they are aftermarket and from the looks of the cylinder walls and piston domes, recently done.

Anyways, some pics! Much more progress is going to happen this week as we have the missing fuel rail o-rings and the rest of what we need for the front!

Wish I had a z shop locally

the new vtc gears are rock solid compared to the old ones... no way in hell they'll slip or get worn.

The old ones you could spin the inside fitting with your bare hands.

+ I picked up a soccer ball so we're in business now, no more delays!

Finally some progress!!

The garage we were working in got some pimping done to it during the christmas (and january and february lol) season. Note the much brighter lighting and epoxy floor ;D (and 16x10 garage door!). Now we're only 4 months past deadline. Still pretty good considering some projects i've seen ;D

SO we spent the weekend puttering around on the engine and consuming energy drinks above that of the recommended daily intake.

Long story short (and without pictures, aye, i suck at this documenting stuff -- ) we got the water lines off the plenum and we got the upper plenum on the engine now. Got the headers on and got the oil feeds and water returns ready for the turbo's, unfortunately we broke one of the hard water lines so we couldn't get the snails on and mounted BUT they fit. We had to grind down the AC mount to get the headers to fit...

I also have a new addition to the car family:

We spent a bit of time twiddling with the AWD system to get it to run in RWD mode and then spent a bit of time contributing rubber and sound pollution to the local roadways.

Plus, we got a god damned soccer ball finally -- all this time I couldn't figure out why progress was so slow, then we picked up the soccer ball and now we're almost done.

Got some snails on The downpipes are ready to go on too, missing some nuts to go on the studs...

Chargepipes are being media blasted this week so they'll be good for this coming weekend.

Progress was slow, but we have the soccer ball so I'm not worried.

And a shot of the new toy
