motortrends numbers are better all the way around: 0.99 vs .97 lateral g's on a skid pad, quater mile time was better too!!! maybe motortrend just pushed a little harder, OR had WAY MORE FUN. but either way, both sets of numbers are awsum, for a street car.

The 350z should have had numbers like this. I'm excited. The 350z is a blast to drive on the track and I can imagine how this car would be.

I hope its defeatable. I rather enjoy performing heel-toe downshifts. However, I am also curious about how well it works. Namely, can it keep up and how smoothly does it operate?

It can be turned off there is a button for it. It is called Sport mode for the manual transmission. Have you read Azhitman's article? He briefly mentions how well it worked. This Sport mode has gotten me daydreaming as I drive my Z, I am no pro with heel toe, so this is great for me. Especially becuase I enjoy downshifting at the begining of turns like most of you.

Yeah, I just read the article. Hell, I didn't even realized the drive occurred yet. 1 more week of school before the break. I'll finally be able to catch up on stuff. Glad to hear it can be defeated though. The technology sounds cool and if it works as smoothly as Greg says it does, awesome. I would hate it if they forced such a thing on me since there is no real mechanical change to the transmission (type).

I recently found out what a heel and toe downshift was. I’ve been doing this since I learned to drive over 20 years ago. I just never knew that it had a name or that it was special. It’s the way I was taught to drive and I thought everyone did it that way. It seems odd to me that everyone doesn’t shift that way.

Outside of driving on a race track, it serves no practical purpose. A simple clutch-in when stopping is all most people will ever need. Frankly, I'd be worried if everyone had to learn to use the technique. There are enough people who can manage the complications of drving a vehicle equipped with an auto trans.

Hey Guys, it's Dan. We drove the Monterey Blue & the Chicane Yellow 2009 Nissan 370z from Dallas to Nashville. These 370z's are amazing! Read my review and the rest of the Outperformance Shop crew reviews in the http://www.Followthenissanz.com blog.
