no offence but if you have no idea where to start then that swap is not for you...do some reading and then go from there.

Hi guys,

For some months I've been researching an engine choice to use in my next scratch built race car project which is a Lakester Salt Lakes Racer - also known as a bellytanker.

So I've arrived at a choice between either a vh or vk 41 or 45 (for which I have some questions about these engines I'll post in another thread).

For now, suffice to say the plan for the car is for front engine, front wheel drive with a N/A high revving (9000+) with my own custom made flat slide ITB's, probably (at this stage) WOLF engine management (unless someone convinces me there's a better option at a reasonable price - Motech's too expensive), 8 into one open headers exiting the bodywork out through the side just behind the engine, bigger cams and more compression.

The engine will be backed up by a 2 speed powerglide with no converter, nor a clutch or flywheel (just running straight into the box using modulated oil pressure to gradually engage 1st speed band to get the car rolling as no hard "launching" is required).

That'll do for the engine for the first year - no doubt there'll be plenty to sort out in that lot for the first runs. Hopefully we can run over 200mph in our first runs planned for April 2011.

. i cut the fire wall out, i am rebuild the front frame rails so they are wider so the engine fits between and i can drop it down more to make it sit level...

i put a Z32 tt clutvh in a Z32 na bell housing and my tranny with the adapter all bolted to the engine. the engine and tranny is sitting in the truck resting on the manifolds on top of the original frame.
just got sone tacking one side of the new frame all up, now i have to do the other side (which is gonna be harder cause i have the steering gear box to clear and i have to tie in the track bar mount some how...
(i did a custom SAS with long arm suspension front and rear last summer)

are u putting it in that lower rider? you've only got that 22re in there right? yours is 2wd i imagine which itll make it a little easier. but by no means is it simple. not to discourage you from doing it, ithink it would be funny if nothing else to see a yota with a nissan V8

I have a 2002 Nissan Altima that I'm converting to RWD. I am using a VK56DE engine. I have my own site for the build www.v8altima.com
I have the whole car gutted out and all ECU wires are removed that run the car with the exception of the BCM unit. I have a custom adapter plate to mount a G37 6spd trans to the VK56DE. The fabrication of the new swap will be starting in a few weeks. I'll keep you all posted as well as on my site.

Hey all, noob here. I have a 1970 240z ready for extreme make over. I am buying a '95 Q45 this weekend. My plan is to swap the VH into the Z. I see some of you are working on manual swaps so I am researching to see which 5 or 6 speed to mate up. I will be using the diff from the Q45 also.
Can someone tell me if any of the Z series flywheels will bolt to the Q45 crank? I am a master machinist so I will probably make my own adaptors. Thanks!

Oh and im in need of a rear end. if any body has any suggestions let me know. i want a lsd but it has to be pretty narrow to fit under the 510.

What is up guys??? I have a 93 S13 Coupe w/ S15 front conversion that I am putting the vh45 to 6-spd (CD009 out of 08' 350z) swap in... Of course you can find this swap to z32 5-spd all day, but the 6-spd conversion is a little more rare. I am trying my best to stay away from the couple companies that have made the VH45 kits for this swap like Mazworks, etc. so plan on doing most the work myself, (haven't found an adapter plate for my need anyway) Except for the exhaust manifold. I have been following the JZXProject, Q45 - 6spd, but still not clear on the path just yet. I have done a TON of reading up, just know that there are a bunch of little things that I am going to run into with this swap. If I can help you out let me know and any help to me is greatly appreciated!!! dlucke17 @ yahoo.com

Slowly putting together all the bits for VH45DE + Z32 -> S14

The S14 is my race car / daily driver at the moment as my truck burnt down.

The VH has ITBs, and A Link Plus ECU, will be getting some Brian Hartley head work (He is in the same town as me)
