I'm not a hardcore fan of it. I just like watching it on an international level.I know it's not popular here on Nico, but it's popular around the states. They're going up against a tough Spaniard team, whose streak is 34 or 35wins. Lets go Team USA!! An upset is due up for the Spaniards. Anyone like watching soccer?

I don't understand how a team can play so bad in the other games. Then dominate the best in the world?

^Team USA could possibly be ranked 5th [in the world] if they happen to pull another upset (correct me if I'm wrong). Finally, USA soccer gets noticed and respected. They do belong!Good luck today! Cheer them on Niconauts!

Trust me the US more than belongs on the world stage where Soccer (Football) is concerned. The thing that blows me away is the apathy of everyone towards the game here in the US, especially the media. The usual excuse is there is not a lot of action, with scores like 1-0, 0-0, 2-1, 1-1 or whatever and it’s boring to watch. However if there is a 2-1 or 1-0 Baseball game it is usually a pitching GEM, and the managers were in a "Chess Match" and everyone is marveling at the intricacies and nuances of the game. hahahaha

Having come from a country where Soccer (Football) is THE game I have to share with you that you can watch a 0-0 game that can be a total clinic of how to play the game with crisp passing and possession/ball control, with amazing one on one or two-one executed plays and incredible goal keeping etc. You can also watch a game with 7 goals that ended 4-3 and be completely disappointed because none of the things that make it “the beautiful game” were on display.

Anyway, the US team played a great first half and unfortunately the Big Boys of the beautiful game came out in the second half and completely dominated the game. It was very disappointing to lose but the experience gained from the tournament as a whole, I think will help the team during the World Cup next year. I wish the powers that be would support this game here on US soil. One needs to learn about the game (that being the media) before they start throwing blanket statements about how boring it is.

It would have been great had we won though.

^QFTA score like 0-0 in a 90 min game, dominated by defense, is exciting to watch.Even better when a scoreless 90 min game goes into penalty shootout.

I feel that Team USA will do a lot better in the next upcoming tourney. The match to watch is; USA v. Mexico. USA has dominated Mexico. Remember when it was the opposite? I love the rivalry between USA and Mexico!

FYI: 37 US cities qualify for potential host cities to FIFA World Cup in 2018 or 2022.

VIVA MEXICO!!!Yea the last few years have been hard on the chicanos... But the US has a tremendous defense this year. I was at the Honduras game in RFK, only 3 shots allowed by the US defense. Here's my thread on thathttp://forums.g35club.org/zerothread?id=437565

i like watching soccer but honestly i really dont like watching American soccer. if you watch Manchester United play and watch Real Madrid and teams like that U.S. has no skill compared to them. so if you like watching American soccer and think that they are good try watching European teams.

The thing team USA needs more is for more of their players to play overseas.

I mean, look at Landon Donovan. With his brief spell of 2 1/2 months (?) at Everton in the EPL, he was marvelous. So marvelous that most fnas want him to stay there and not play in the MLS. Sure, we can say that not supporting the MLS will damage American soccer, but on the international stage, it is crucial.

^So crucial.

This team has talent. I'm stoked about supporting these talented players and cheering them on come June 12 against England. Yesterday's game against Czech Republic was horrible. I'm hopeful that this team with the new acquisitions will turn up the pace and push the ball harder. Let's go team USA!!

you see that in basketball also. and in football when OLBs and DE's try to ask for a holding flag, or receivers want a PI call. Its in every sport really.

less than 5 days til USA vs. England!!!! :mike :mike :mike

i'm super pumped, but in a realistic sense do not expect a win from the USA.

As much as I would LOVE for them to come away with a win against england, there are some factors against them.

the defense still needs some work on and their injuries arent helping either. I'm starting to doubt Onyewu's performance for the world cup (his injury winter 2009 really took a toll on his performance) as well as bradley, clark, holden, gomez, beasley (conceeded a goal in the brazil game this past confed cup by carelessness), and feilhaber. and dont forget about altidire's recent injury, though minor, but an injury nontheless. Davies' presence as a foward will not only be missed, but needed.

I think the midfield needs less work on, but the USMNT's weakest spot i believe is their defense followed by their fowards. Counterattacking is decent thanks to the likes of the magicians known as LD and Dempsey and will hopefully improve.

anyway, i'll still be rooting them on throughout as well as Argentina, Ivory Coast, Uruguay, Ghana, and Netherlands. Unfortunately, Ecuador (my true national team) didnt make it this WC

my WC 2010 prediction: Spain vs. Brazil - Spain win 2-1.
