I am sorry if there is an answer somewhere in the forum - I did search for these questions/answers, but I couldn't find it.I just received the springs today from Versaspeed and I will install them Saturday. Here are the questions:- In the instructions is written to cut the bump rubber - do I really need to cut it?- What about the spiral tube?

Yes you do need to cut the bump stop or you will bottom out.how far down do they tell you to cut it?I think there are 3 or 4 piece's you can cut off and I cut only one off.

They say to cut between 15 and 25 mm. It's so confusing!!!! First: 15 or 25mm, or may 20 or 22? Second: Front or rear bump rubber?

Id didn't cut the bump stop either. I think they thing they are telling you to cut is the peice around the rear spring? Either way you'll be fine.

I just installed the Tanabe springs and I took the car for a spin - what an improvement in handling!

Here is an update and some more details for installing the springs:- there is no bump rubber on 08 SL (maybe there is one on a 07 as Tanabe suggested to cut it)- for rear springs, the jack stands should be placed where the normal car jack is used, not on the bar that connects the wheel. This way someone can push the wheel and pull the spring out without compressing it with a spring compressor- for front springs, in order to remove the strut, you have to remove the 3 screws on the top; unfortunately, the third one is hidden and unless you have a special tool, you need to remove the windshield wipers and the plastic piece inside the engine bay that covers the bottom of the windshield- to remove the top screw on the strut (for removing the old spring), you need to keep the strut axe from spinning while unscrewing. I used a plumbing wrench on the rubber that surrouns the axe, but it was difficult.

Thank you for Bulld0g for posting the how-to! Thank you all Versa forum members for helping me with the new mod!Thank you Bob from versaspeed.com for a quick delivery and shopping experience.

I have the 07 s..... does anyone know if i do have to modify anything when installing the springs?? I also wanted to go +2 on the wheels...... am I going to have trouble with the wheel and bump??????

another question, with those springs it says that lows the car about 3" in the front and 4" in the back, is the car going to go through bumps easely???

You must have seen that on a non-US market website. Look here to see exact details. 1.4"/1.5" comes out to about 3/4 cm

I did the alignment after installing the springs - the toe was in the range, but still too far from the optimum one. So a $60 is worth after lowering.

The purpose of a bump stop is to make a softer transition near the top end of suspension travel. I'm pretty sure both the 07 & 08s have Front strut bump stops. My 08 SL has them. (perhaps its confusing because the bump stop is designed into the top part of the strut splash cover.)

when you order, do you order 1 pair or 2 pairs (2 boxes)? I'm thinking 1 box consists of 2 springs, for either front or back 2 wheels. I'm thinking of getting some springs but don't know how many to order. Thanks

When you order the springs it will be for a set of 4 springs. Both front & rear spring in a set for one price.
