i took out my taillights last night and i wanted to take out the plastic part that shows on the outside, i tried prying it off but i was afraid i might break and crack the plastic, how do i take that off carefully without breaking it? i wanna experiment with it since i have another pair of taillights i got from a junkyard

yeah, place it in the oven after you preheat at about 200º, then only keep it in for like 5 min, WATCH IT! Don't walk away. This heats it enough to seperate the plastic lens with the housing but if you heat it too much, it will melt.Another way is to place it in hot hot water which also heats it but it cools to quickly IMO.

try talking to someone at http://www.clearcorners.com. That is all that they do all day. Since they do it for a living, I don't know if they'll want to share their experience with you, but it doesn't hurt to try.
