t56 trans

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

okay I found a t56 trans for $300. The catch is that the 3rd gear sycro is out. So my question is what is involved in fixxing this. Would it be worth it to buy and fix. I no nothing about these. I have built many motors, but I have never been into a tranny before.

Check out LS1 tech. Fixing the Syncro won't cost much. It may cost more to ship than fixing. Check out LS1 tech though and visit the Manual Transmission section.

What are you putting a T56 in?

Okay,... I know that the t56 is a better trans to use compared to the t5,.... but I might just happen to have a t5 that I can use. So I think that I may start with the t5 and then upgrade later. If I do this, will the flywheel, clutch pressure plate all work when I switch from t5 to t56

The T5 will be good if you have on right off the back. What will you be putting the Transmission behind? Not sure, but more than likely you'll need a new F/W & Psi Plate.

Right now I am looking at an Lt1 motor, but that is not set in stone yet,.... just depends on the deal I can get on it.

Cool. Let me know how everything turns out. The LT1 is a little heavier than a LS but it still should be sick in that light body once the modding start.
