I recently found a used SZ chip which would be a perfect tune for the few mods I have done to my '90 TT. It is just the SZ chip but no socket. When I bought my Twin Turbo it came with a JWT Chip and Socket in the glove box (I dont know if its ever been used or what the tune is for). My question is, mainly because I'm a student and don't have loads of money to throw away, can I solder the JWT socket into my ECU and use the SZ chip as a tune? I feel as if the number of pins to sockets matches it should work.

Sockets should be the same, 28 pin I believe. Soldering in the socket is easy, the hard part is removing the the OEM chip, without damaging the circuit board. Also, make sure all the "half moon markers" are facing the same direction.
