so i just picked up a g35x for my wife-belated xmas present and i ask the dealer if this car is set up with shnth or dino oilhe tells me dino and it'll cost me 100 bucks for service to set the car up for synth this sounds like bs to mefor my 2006 legacy gt all i did was run dino until 7500 miles and i've been using synth sincecan i do that with the g?also the dealer says to wait to change the oil for 3750i always thought it the best practice to change the oil after break in ie at about 1000 milesthoughts from you g owners appreciated

my dealer told me to wait for 20k to click over and then use full synthetic mobil 1. He said something about parts needing to age properly..with some crazy detail but I didn't argue and when I put in synthetic the difference was immediate. The rpm's dropped down within 10 seconds to idle on a cold start on a below freezing day and before it took over a minute. Seems to run smoother..but it could be bs. But anyways..I would just go with synthetic because that's what I was told and wouldnt' go back..it costs 70 each time..3500-4000k

Wouldn't this depend on your climate as well?

I had the dealer change my '05 coupe over to synthetic when I went to pick it up new. Naturally they resisted, but I eventually won out and the car has been on Mobile 1 ever since. I have never had one bit of trouble with it and have been extremely impressed with the performance. Of course I have no comparison to go off of, but I can't imagine the engine running this smooth on typical "dino" oil.

On my past 3 vehicles I can tell the difference pretty quickly if the car has full synth or just the standard oil. Full synth usually keeps the same engine performance past its 2,000 mile mark. When I used regular oil it performed well up until 1,000 miles and then I noticed engine performance decreased pretty quickly until the next oil change. Anyways I did the first oil change at 1k miles on my G full synthetic.

Make sure you break in the motor on mineral oil. I change the oil on a new car about 50 miles in using mineral oil, then to synthetic at the end of break-in.

About to change the oil for the first time in my wife's G35X. And had the same questions regarding using synthetic. I want to start using Mobil 1 5w-30 synthetic.

My Porsche came with 0-40 Mobil 1 synthetic from the factory and actually has a sticker that requires Mobil 1 exclusively. If it's good enough for my Porsche, why are people/dealers concerned about using it in a G35?

Thanks!
