I know the book on the 3.5 recommends premium fuel and also states you can use regular unleaded(87 octane in my area) with "maybe" a loss of performance.

I did the math and with the 30 cent differential in regular and premium and an overall 24MPG the cost for each 10K miles would only be about $125.

That seems like a small price to pay for probably better performance and a cleaner burning fuel. My next fillup will be 93 octane.

I ran a couple of tanks of gas on regular then switched to premium. I actually got better mileage with the premium. When I calculated it out it was worth it 9by like 1/10 of a penny) to switch to premium. So that is what I run. It doesn't make the $50 fill ups any easier though.

I got a gas station a block from my house that serves 91 93 100 and they sell drums of higher than 100 octane. And another 12 miles from my house is another gas station that serves that exact listing of octanes. on the west coast you just gotta look to find a gas station with true premium.

I personally don't understand how/why anyone would skimp on petrol for their car. Especially considering you spent over $25K for a V6, why in the world would a couple of dollars each fill-up even worry a person? It just doesn't make sense.
