Hi all,

I recently changed out the front driver side door on a 2012 Versa Hatch with a door from a scrap yard. The only problem is that I couldn't figure out how to change the lock mechanism over, so I don't have a key to the 'new' door. The key fobs work of course, but there is only one actual key slot to get in, and if the battery dies, I'm going to need to use it. I can't find any good descriptions of how to change the lock online. Has anyone done this? Does anyone have any diagrams or walk throughs?

I have already called Nissan and they said they can do it for about 2 hours labor, and a local locksmith said the same. But, I want to save money if possible.

Thanks.

There should be some diagrams in the factory service manual:

From what I remember, you have to remove the door panel, remove the lock rod, and then I think there's just 1 or 2 nuts holding the cylinder on some studs (or bolts).

Thanks, looking at the manuals now. From there can you just swap the lock cylinders? I've got the old door to play with, but of course the window is rolled down. Any easy way to roll it up/remove it so I can work with it?

If you've got a battery charger, you might be able to power the motor so the window will roll up. You have the luxury of it being a junk door, so you can try whatever combination until it works haha.
Or look at the FSM wiring to see what needs to be done to raise the window. You also might be able to just unbolt the whole thing.
