Saw this over Christmas. Can confirm it looks pretty and that Mr. superDorifto has stolen more than his fair share of tools from my garage.

PS what happened to the KA-T forums? Only Brian and James commenting on a thread like this??

They have been in my possession longer than 6 months, you know the rules.

I might let you borrow them once you build something else.

the KA cant breath for s*** up top anyway.

shifting at 5500, nice heavy d21 flywheel for easy driving in traffic, and stock pedal feel with the Luk Gold clutch, which has been proven to hold ~400hp easily. This thinkg is gonna be a blast.

Lots of work the past few weeks. Digital dash is functional, need to write in a few more things, and put the interior back together.

Other than that it's ready to drive, idles nice and smooth at 800ish rpms. Does not even hint at stumbling on decel, we'll see how it feels under load

This is one of the reasons I really want to install a M90 supercharger. Instant boost and no worrying about overspeeding the rotors if you keep it under 6000 rpm. I don't mind shifting at 5500 if it means a useable powerband starting at 1000 rpm.

I've had my fill of lag.

You gonna make it out to Carlisle one of these times bro? Beers on me if you do, maybe you can bring Foster along, if his wifeunit will let him anyway.

Yeah man,

hopefully this year I can make it. Got a good little crew of Nissan guys here in CT - most of whom are not active at all on the forums, in my small circle of friends we have:

- a VH s14, Stance Coils, powercoated and tucked, striaght pipes (f*** mint, and its on the forums, best machinist I know)
- turbo q20 mocked up to look like a touring car, not my cup of tea but still pretty cool, and the owner is super knowlegabel about FWD Nissans

I'm going to try to convince them to take the trip. I guess foster can come, if he stops bitching about the tools he abandoned to rot and rust in his parent's garage....I saved them, and they ar emine now.

Going to need to start looking for something to put my extra VH in - I'm thinking s13 vert, or z32 vert.

Get Foster drunk enough and he'll either forget about the tools, or kick you in the shin for him. Either way, by morning it'll be all over.

Foster- I have your old meth kit. You should make the drive this upcoming MLK weekend and help me install it on the miata. And by that I mean drink beer and stare at it.

One does not simply forget about stolen tools

Getting me drunk is a good idea, always in support of it, but (as will can probably attest to) it just makes me more vocal about said tools.

RI is a bit of a drive from where I'm living right now... Hopefully back in the good ol Northeast round summertime. I def would like to stare at a meth kit install.

I'm still on FB... just changed my name slightly. I messaged you.

Brian has been talking about installing a supercharger since, like, 1998.

She is officially road going.

Put about 25 miles on her so far at the min boost setting for the HKS actuator (I'm thinking around 3-4 psi). Worked through some initial hick-ups with it running too rich. My but dyno tells me that this drives nearly like a stock KA with a little extra mid-range power, which makes sense considuering we dropped static compression by nearly a full point to 8.8:1.

We had the base pressure a bit too high, dropped it down to 34 psi at idle, and enthalpy's tune smoothed right out, runs a bit rich when cold, but with the BKR7Es gapped down to .032 it runs very good once the car is warmed up. So far, no stumbling with the blow through set up.

Going to need it to get warmer so I can paint the fenders and finish the break-in before I really start pushing this thing. Supper excited to peg this thing at 1 bar and see how it feels. video to come.

Sweet build, question about the 11mm studs. Does it affect the oil passage in the block(only 1 bolt has a oil passage I think?)?

I need to post recent progress on my S13, it's been down for a year-ish, and getting close to daily status again.

The drain hole has an undercut stud (the major diameter is reduced slightly to allow oil to drain around it, just like the stock bolt. The undercut 11mm stud allows the head to drain. I've been through my first oil change so far, and have had ZERO oiling issues. No smoking from the turbo, no leaks, and no other issues that I can identify.

The Baffle fix we applied to the Valve cover baffle seems to have done the trick for the rear most open cam oiling hole as well.

Heading back to Canada for a few weeks for work, so vids and updates may need to wait, but when I get back I'll have shiny new lowering springs to install, and it should be warm enough to paint. ;)

Pardon my ignorance, but when you say the undercut 11mm stud, you mean the hole correct? The studs themselves are unmodified? Also, did you use time-serts for these? Thanks!

Oh one more thing, when are 11mm studs needed? I've heard "high torque levels" and "over 500whp"...

Undercut means that the body of the stud is a smaller diameter than the threaded ends. It lets the oil drain around the stud. Other people have used timeserts....I didn't, just drill and retap. Some of the old 10mm threads may still be present, but it is only the faintest amount.

They are over kill for my project, 500 seems to be the agreed upon level, but it's not like people have not made 500+ on stock head bolts either
