Still have not hit the dyno.

Street tune is helping us chase down all the leaks tho.

Also clutch master took a s***...replacing with a willwood MC...coming in the mail on Tuesday.

I can see the light! Drove it to work today. Seemsv to be running a little rich, but no other issues.

Ended up swapping to a Willwood clutch master...had to have a custom line made to adapt between it and the slave.

Now for the shake down and hopefully actual tuning.

Bad news is....no, good news is, just got back from the dyno.

It's been a long, long, long time coming.

On a day with piss poor weather (90 plus degrees @50% humidity), with a heat soaked engine....we spent an hour chasing a timing gremlin that turned out to be artifact from the dyno....she finally put down 355hp @17psi.

Even in the awful condition, pulls were super consistent. At this point hp it's limited by fuel and rpm. The turbo is still pulling at redline. Basically if I could reliably get corn in CT, I would be over 400....or if I build my extra head to bump the limiter so I can scrape 7500+ it would be over 400.

Dyno sheets coming soon....videos too.

Come to think of it, I don't think I ever posted my new set up...

Swapped to the following this year:

Used gtx2876r turbo w/t3 vband exhaust housing
Custom 321 stainless ram horn top mount mani
Tial mvr 44 (both turbo and wg see water cooled)
Aem ems v2
Cop with VAG version m coils
Aem boost control solenoid
Aem water/meth inj v2
Deautshwerks 950s
Open 1.75" dump from wg

And on the chassis:
hybrid s13 front swap
Powered by max coils
S13 rebuilt knuckles powdered chrome
S13 ball joints in s12 lcas
Techno toy tuning tc rods
Fresh s12 rack, depowered
Enjuku s14 adjustable outer tie rod ends
Z33 inner tie rods
Modified cannuck racing rear lowering springs
Powder coated z32 30mm front brakes
Ebc red stuff pads
Custom tucked brakelines
Chasebays booster delete(turbo was touching)
Willwood clutch slave (stock 5/8)
Rebuilt rear drums
Varrstoen 16x8+12s with Toyo proxes R 245/55s
Powered by max lugs and valvestems caps
Zg replica fender flares-running a 38mm spacer in the rear...lol I need wider rears.

Then there was all the fab..

All new intercooler piping and intercooler location
All new coolant/oil lines for the turbo
All new down pipe...mmmm vbands
New gauges and senders, added electric oil pressure and swapped to aem for O2/boost
Redid half the harness with the swap over to aem.

Really except for the engine and tranny it's a whole new car.

It just wasn't gonna happen - the dyno sesion fell into place, Not sure the 3-4 hr drive would have been advisable with just the street tune. Overall I'm sad that I didnt go, but happy that the car is running great.

Hmmmmm.. Note about swapping to cop...make sure you delete the resistor/capacitor loop for cranking. It apparently gets pretty hot.

Hm. Good to know.
Did you use someone's used harness, or did you go brand new, a-la wiring specialties?

Sorta both.

I started with a clean used obd2 harness, but completely depinned everything for evap and the tranny. I bought wiring specialties connector kit and put all new connectors in the harness.

The part that melted was the condenser/resistor loop...it got so hot, that all of the insulation melted off the condenser hot wire...s*** its bonkers. Also going to send the aem out to make sure it's not fried.

That sucks. Can't you just fix the wiring and then try the AEM? Is there anything that leads you to believe the AEM is broken?

not really, but were still at a loss as to why it wouldn't start either.

The loop that melted was essentially unused, but the engine still keept cranking. We might plug the aem back in and see if it starts up, but at this point we don't even know if that will work. my friend finished fixing the harness yesterday. Going to try and install again tonight or tomorrow.

Back in it. Waiting for the tranny or rear end to blow up.

Removed the offending wiring from the harness and it started right up.

picked up another built KA to rob head parts from it....

Adding for winter build:
BC stage 3 272/272 cams
JWT adjustable cam gears
BC Ti retainers and dual valve springs
BC .5mm oversized intake and exhaust valves

Were going to start fresh with one of my extra heads and reset with an 8500 rpm redline...not sure if Im going to run more boost or not, at my current 17psi my turner seems to think theres another 100 whp to be had with that extra 1000 rpm - currently at 355. Much more if I do the above and say f*** it and switch to race gas.

Turbo oil seals are about cooked and the tranny is about to explode as it is, so still need to make some decisions.

Ideal situation would be with a new twin disc clutch and a z32 tranny, but thats another 5k down the toilet.

So far just over 17k without the new head stuff.

Does not include the cost of the car either...and even that is low, really stopped paying attention last year.

I just figure I'm going to spend 200-400 each month. Some more, some less.

But if you look at it rationally is not really a hobby. I could have spent 20k on a bmw and been a boring f***

HAha...yeah I do like e39's, and they at least make real performance options for their cars.

But for reals, awesome almost kill story happened last Saturday.

MY buddy who has a vh swapped s14 and I are on the way home from a local 240 meet in CT. were cruising on the highway, its a particularly wide section (5 lanes) near the airport. were doing the speed limit hanging out in the2nd lane from the left....there is no traffic, its also a relatively straight section, prolly just under an 1/8 of straight empty highway.

when out of nowhere a d!ck in a brand new p**** magnet yellow convertible C7 vette splits between both of us from the fast lane with his whore girlfriend giggling in the passenger seat.....f*** that...

There was no traffic - he thought he was going to get an easy kill off of a 20 and 30 year old car respectively....He moved to the middle lane.

I double clutch and downshift to 3rd and Im pretty sure my buddy did the same I stayed in my lane, my friend moved over 2 as we pulled up on this jack wagon. He instantly understood that despite his Vette's shiny new paint we were both at least on par with him power to weight wise and our cars sounded much meaner.

He didn't want to play anymore and slowed way the f*** down and moved over to the slow lane as we accelerated away. Had a good laugh about it after the fact...and spent some more time complaining about how our trannys are about to blow up. :gotme

Yeah they are - I've got one on a stand and one in my q....I'm thinking I'm just going to build the Q rather than swap. bought some mazzworx headers and Elweso's z32 tranny swap kit.

projects, projects, projects....

not enough money.

I'd remote turbo the Q. Probably wouldn't go with a manual, but that's just me. If the M62 ever died in my 540 I'd consider a VH/Z32 swap. Pretty sure that's never been done. Everybody does the LSx something these days.

For a while i was looking for a 528ti wagon to do just that, decided to keep the g50 instead.

I'm going to remote it, elweso has my extra ecu right now...but that project is like another 3-4 years out, maybe by 2020 when it becomes emission exempt!
