I have talking with a friend of mine that has a supercharged frontier. We have parked our trucks side by side and I can see that the supercharger would be a direct bolt on application. Has anybody out there tried it yet? If not does anybody know why that wouldn't work? :help I am looking for any info I can find before I tackle this project. :icesangel

I'm looking for a Pathfinder, and I wanted to supercharge it too. The Pathfinders and Frontiers have the same engine, so it should be easy to install. But, I thinking it should be kinda hard to find a supercharger off of a Frontier. If you go to a local auction and find a Frontier that's completely totaled, you could buy it and just put the charger on. Other than that I'm not sure where you'd find one!

Hi and thanks for that info. I have been looking on ebay and found a rebuilt one for $400. I am sure I can bolt it right on. What I am not sure of is if I have to change the intake manifold and ECU. If the ECU has to be changed will the Frontier ECU work for this?

The vg33e(pathfinder engine) and the vg33er(frontier and xterra supercharged engine) are different in more then the visual outer components. the er engine has differnt crank components and the intake is completely different on both. your best bet would be to get the entire engine and harness with ECU from the frontier or xterra supercharged vehicle and swap it in or go with an aftermarket charger with higher boost( it would be more impressive to you) The boost supplied by the stock charger is very minimal. the stock horespower on the path is higher then the NA frontier/xterra's so obviously something is different between the 2 vehicles engine and controls. Its almost not worth the effort to use the stock supercharger.

Actually the 1998 Pathfinder has 168 hp, and the frontiers have 170 hp, and thats cause the Pathfinder's exhaust is more restrictive to make it quieter. The newer Pathfinders have more power.

I have been looking on ebay and occasionally you will see one on there. If you find one and install it let me know how it goes. I still want to do one but too chicken to start the project because it is all I have to tow the boat right now, and we go boating almost every weekend.
