anyone experiencing sudden acceleration in 2011 G37x? I had just pulled into a parking ramp spot, had put my left foot on brake, and right foot was off the accelerator pedal and before I took car out of Drive, it suddenly lurched forward while motor was increasing RPM's. Rammed into cement wall in front of car, before motor returned to normal. Pretty unsettling as I'm sure I had my foot off the pedal. Lucky no one was in front of me. But scraped up the front bumper hitting the cement retaining wall.

it depends. I find myself doing both, but probably more so with the left.

I was always taught to only use the right foot to accelerate/brake, this keeps you from hitting the gas and brake at the same time which can lead to exactly what happened to you. I know you have said you are sure your foot was off the accelerator, but if you were using both feet, there is no way you really can be sure of this. Sounds like a pretty expensive lesson, I hope that is the least you have gained from your experience.

There was a TSB for this on the 2008 G37's.

Go by your Infiniti dealership and complain about the issue, I'm sure they've hear of similar.

I had done that and they claim there were no error codes showing a malfunction and of course, it can't be recreated. I realize this is tough to prove out, which is why I was asking this board if anyone else had experienced the same issue. It may have been my error, now I don't know. I know using your right foot to brake will sometimes have your foot straddle the accelerator while part of your foot is on the brake. As you're waiting at a light or stop sign, the brake pedal continues to depress and eventually your foot is starting to accelerate the gas. That's why I usually use my left foot on the brake pedal. But the Infiniti dealer claims nothing wrong or any reports on this car. Time will tell.

There's no error code with this happening anyway. I deal with this all the time because I have not had the TSB done to my car. Push this to the Service Manager and if that does not get a reaction then call Infiniti Corp. You've hit a damn wall with the car already, tell them if someone gets injured you will come after them for not taking care of the problem. THAT will get their attention.

Scare tactics do work. We had a '90 Cutlass that would just shut off for no reason. Did it on the interstate at 80 mph a couple of times. David took it to them a few times and they said the same thing that Infiniti is telling you.

I called them up and told them that we had brought it in so many times and they denied that there was a problem, but there were two babies riding in the back of that car and if we were involved in an accident I was going to own the place. They fixed it that time. Never did it again. For some reason, nowadays you have to be a very squeeky wheel to get anything done.

so the car lauched forward while you were moving the gear shift? was this when you first started the car for the day? Was this a very quick stop into the parking space? This is what ive noticed in my 2 years with my G37:

When the G37 first starts up it'll run about 1000 RPMS to warm up the CATs i believe for emmission purposes, and when you shift into D it should drop the RPMS down to normal idle about 650 RPMs. Now if for some reason the gear engages early while you are dropping from 1000 RPM to 650rpm you will lauch forward...

I have noticed that if you come to a very quick stop and you are in auto (D), sometimes the transmission is late getting down to first gear. its late by like 1 second or so... so if you quickly pulled the car into a parking space and you went to put the car into park you could get a forward lauch of the car about a foot or so if you hit that 1 sec window...

i first experienced this when i did a quick stop and go at a stop sign, the transmission got confused and didnt know whether to down shift or keep 2nd gear. the result was a foward lauch of about a foot and then a noticable delay before it up shifted into second and the transmission was normal after that.

I further noticed that this mainly happened on cold mornings when the transmission had cold fluid. I took my car into the dealer after it happened the second time and they reprogramed my transmission to fix "aggressive engine braking". The reprogram has reduced the problem down to only happening if the car has cold transmission fluid with a quick stop and go. so im happy with that.

If you are sure you didnt press them both, then look into getting your transmission reprogramed, even if its just them writing the same software again. it was only a wall this time...
