Just took a dump on me in the hottest week of the summer. I found a used one with 34k on it and a 6 month warranty for $165. It sure beats $575 new. The only bad thing is I have to wait 4 days to get it.

thanks for the info....but I have been actually spending time looking at new cars this past week after work versus concentrating on the Q. The itch for a new ride is killing me again as it did about a 1.5 years ago before I found NICO and decided to keep the beasty Q and have some fun with it.

New car itch? Good. Sell me your Q in a few months and stay away from used compressors!

Q_Ship.....can you give us an update on how your used AC compressor worked out? Also how much did a shop charge you for the swap, freon, drier, labor, etc.?

Jason at the number you gave me has one with 76,000 miles which is a little high, but he gives a 6 month part warranty and then for $250 he includes a labor warranty also so for about $400 I get a used AC compressor with a 6 month part and labor warranty which is not too bad. I did find one here locally with 54,000 miles for $150 but the warranty sucks....it is sealed up as I inspected it, but the warranty is only 30 days from time of purchase so I would need to get it installed quickly and cross my fingers.

The trouble is that my AC works fine after my car is running for 1 minute. The initial start up in the mornings & after work there is no AC for the first minute and then afterwards it works perfectly even on a hot as crap day like today here in Miami sitting in traffic during lunch. I can even shut the car off for 30 minutes or less and the AC will be cold again instantly...only when it has been sitting for a while does it need a full minute to wake up and start cooling. Just don't know if the problem right now warrants me spending $500 to have the AC fixed when it is not totally broken.

rsiwicki, The new (used) compressor is working great. It's like a freaking meat locker in there. just the way I like it.

My mechanic treates me very well because we (being a used car dealership) send him so much business. The compressor was $165 with 34k on it and the install and refrigerant was $100. So a total of $265, I have Ice cold air again. I also got a 6 month warranty on the part only.
