I am changing the brake pads and rotors on a 2013 Nissan Rogue. Everything seems fine until I got to the rotors. They are stuck. Most other cars’ rotors come off with a couple of taps with a wooden block. But not the Nissan Rogue.

I saw a YouTube video saying that I have to go through the little hole in the rotor and loosen the disc brakes? Never heard of it. Most DIY videos don’t cover it.

Any tips on getting this less stubborn rotors off?

Six pound hand sledge or a big dead-blow. Strike the area outside the ring of studs, protect the studs in case you miss. Put some hate into it, the shock will make it let go 99 times in 100.

Again, a great opportunity for you DIY'ers to buy a thread checker.

Those "little holes in the rotor" are for threading a bolt into, to pop the rotor off. Spray a little penetrant in the hole, grab two bolts that fit those threads, run them in one turn at a time, and they'll force the rotor off the hub.

IIRC I don't think the gen1 Rogue rotors have the threaded holes, but since the OP is changing the rotors anyway, there shouldn't be any issues with denting the old ones.

Front or rear?
If it's rear, wouldn't they have the internal shoes for the e-brake? You normally have to loosen (or tighten technically) the adjuster to let the shoes back off. If they have made enough of a groove inside the rotor, you can pound all you want, they aren't coming off until you loosen them.

+1. The fronts are usually the ones that rust solid, so I assumed that's what the OP meant. The rears usually come off easy if the driver doesn't use the parking brake much, but if they use it frequently you're quite right, the star wheels may need to be backed off.

These are rear rotors.I was able to wiggle the rotor out by hitting it with a sledge hammer and a block of wood. The trick is hit it and wiggle it out as far as you can. When it no longer moves, hit it and push it back to its original position. Repeat. This process loosens the rotor. I am glad that I was able to remove the rotor without having to adjust the emergency brake shoes. The rotors were 13 year old originals and stuck from brake dust etc.
