Stuck in 4hi

Hey, I am having trouble with my t-case. It won't come out of 4wd and no matter how much I fiddle around with the lever, it won't drop into 2wd. I can get it into 4lo easily though. Also, I have manual locking hubs....does it hurt it to drive in 4hi with the hubs unlocked? Been our cruising backwards and it doesn't do anything....any help would be greatly appreciated. I figure I could rebuild it or replace it fairly easily if I need to, but any tips or tricks before I get to that point would be great. Lastly, does anyone know of a place I could get a rebuild kit if I end up needing to go that route??? Thanks!

So I think I realized what might have happened to this poor t-case, and I might need to be replacing it....Does anyone know if the case out of an '89 hard body will fit in my '84 720? I think the levers are different, but you can change that, maybe? I just need a little help. Also, is a good t-case out of an '89 hardbody for $65 a good deal? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think the swap will work. You may need to change a few things but it should work. 89 I think is still z24 if it's early enough. Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, just talked to they guy who is selling it and I think I am gonna look for the same one I have 'cause mine is divorced and the hardbody's is not and I need something that is pretty quick and easy and I'm not sure what extra needs to be done to make that swap work. Thanks though. Any ideas on how bad it is to drive in 4hi with the hubs in free?
