Car is a 95 240sx with S14 SR20DET along with the jdm transmission. Problem is that when shifting in to 2nd it grinds, unless I shift real slow and it also grinds just a little bit when going in to 3rd, 4th 5th and reverse are fine. Now after the car is all warmed up and shifting a few times it shifts fine. What can it be? is rebuilding the best bet?

Hey what's going on bro,

You mention that it's fine after warmup? Check your fluid level to make sure that everything is up to par. Check the fluid for any brass colored bits too. The synchros may be warped.

Then I will be changing the fluid then and inspecting it. Is replacing the synchros preety much the same thing as rebuilding the transmission? Thanks for the help

Yes, synchros do require you to open up the gear box and replace the synchros. If time is a factor, getting another transmission would be a better idea.

You'll have a good idea of what's going on in there once you inspect your fluid.
