yea, my ride is pretty quiet also. this noise is very subtle, and if you have the radio on you really cannot even hear it.I am trying to think of a better description of how it sounds..Lakerfan1975 wrote:I do more highway driving than anything and I'm well over 3000 miles now and I can't say that I've heard anything like what you describe. The Rogue is supposed to be very quite at high speeds according to reviews that I've read and I have to agree. You may want to take it out with someone from the dealership if it's something easy to reproduce.
yes! i think you may be right Rocky.. it almost sound like wind blowing, but at slightly a lower sound pitch.. and its been really windy here the last week.Rocky08 wrote:I think I've heard the same noise you're talking about, especially on windy days. Sounds like air coming through the door. I've heard it since the the first week I got my Rogue; never took it to got checked though.
well, unfortunately i do have to drive to work on the highway, so I have to do at least 65-70 mphrrs26ja wrote:First, I am not sure I would be taking my brand new Rogue at 80 mph with only a 120 miles on it. The engine takes about 1200 miles to break in.
Not sure if what your hearing is road noise or something else. I have noticed a wind noise that sounds like it is coming from either the small windows on the side in the back or the back hatch area. I really hear it when the road is wet.
I have a roof rack, my son thinks it may be that because the other Rogue we test drove we did not hear the noise.
Just for fun, do you have a roof rack?
Please read the owners manual. You're not supposed to break heavily, rev the engine past either 3000 or 4000 rpm (can't remember which right now). Also you shouldn't drive at a constant speed for an extended period of time for the first 1,200 miles. This is the break in period.boooey wrote:
i never heard of the idea that i can't drive on the highway when a car is new.and the dealer never said anything about that to me.
yea, i did read that in the manual.. but i guess my question would be what is an extended period of time exactly?Derango wrote:

I wouldn't get to concerned about it just don't use the cruise control and vary the speed a few miles per hour every 10-15 minutes....55....65....60.....70....etc...boooey wrote:

30 min1 hour2 hours3 hours??
This is fairly common with roof rails. I recall either a few CRVs, or Rav4s had this issue and it was determined that the rails were installed backwards. Same problem for the Rogue?? I doubt it, but I would check it out. I have no rails and no noise I have noticed. I'll double check next time on the highway, if I can turn down the Bose . I have a Yakima roof rack with a fairing that came off my RAV4 that will fit the Rogue but have no plans to install it for any length of time due to the turbulance/drag/noise that anything on the roof creates.boooey wrote:well, i believe I have narrowed down this whirring noise to wind noise on the roof of the car, either caused by the roof rails and/or antenna.
I bought mine in Indiana and drove it to chicago were I live. It had 3 miles when I got it. now over 6k miles.hope it didnt do anything...philipa_240sx wrote:Yes, I do notice more 'tire noise' on wet roads. There are 2 factors at play here:
1 - This is a hatchback style vehicle and unlike a sedan with a closed trunk, road noise tends to reverberate more. I've driven my Altima with the rear seats folded down and I get much the same noise.
2 - The OEM Continental tires (if you have them) are very noisy on rough and damp pavement.
As for wind noise, it's present but after all the vehicle is punching a sizable hole through the air. I do notice more wind noise than my Altima but I am not concerned.
