I installed LED's in the lights in place of where the regular lights are on the driver and front passenger doors. (The ones that come on when a door is opened) sorry I dont know the name for them. I simply cut the wires an inch behind where the connect to the harness that plugs into the plastic piece that holds the bulb. Once I put the resistor onto the LED, I connected it to the positive and negetive wires and drilled a hole for the light to go. The install looked good until I shut the door and the light never went off. I drove around for 15 minutes and made sure all the doors were closed but those two lights on the doors never went off. Did I do something wrong by bypassing the stock harness?

Strange...Bypassing the stock connector shouldn't cause a problem as long as you used the stock wiring. It should have remained hot only with the door open.

If you completely bypassed stock wiring, you've probably mis-wired it and skipped the door sensor switch.

Are the door panel lights that you swapped out the only ones that stay on? Or do all the door-switched interior lights (overhead dome, etc.) remain on as well?

Wiring diagrams for that can be found on page 73 of the electrical section of the FSM, which you can get here.

you know how there is that "button" on the frame that tells your car when the door is open, make sure that is functioning and the the door open light on the dash isn't on. If that works fine, then your door lights don't have a right to be getting power.

I didnt rewire anything, I used the factory ground and power wire that ran into the harness. The door ajar light isnt on and all the other interior lights go off when the door is shut. Im going to mess with it some more tonight but this problem has me stumped.

I installed the led door lights a while back. I have 12 led's in each door, and another 12 in the dome. When driving, or while parked, they are "barely on" kinda like maybe 3v are being drawn, instead of the full 12v. Remember they are LED's, so the amperage being pulled is not enough to drain the battery, and as much as I dislike the minor permanent glow from them, it's worth the upgrade.

Ive noticed that very thing while driving today. When the doors are shut, they become much dimmer. True they dont drain the battery as much, but it still puzzles me as to why they get power at all. I would rather have the stock lights in the door than have a light on inside my car 24/7.

Does your Dome light have a slight glow constantly as well?
