nothing different at all just louder it will make people notice your car a lot more whether you like that or not. most of the time people like it sometimes they don't. also not everywhere will do it for you.

you guys do know you can go straight piped for free right? about a year ago i talked about it and no one paint attention but now mehdi just posted a thread about it the other day in the coupe specific section.... go look at your exhaust pipe and you will see a flange with 2 bolts. take off those bolts and stick a flat head screw driver in there and open it up.... its straight piped and you can just bolt it back up when ever you want..... i have a 3.5se and it is HELLA LOUD and if i have my windows UP, it rattles the s*** out of everything in the car.... has a nice sound though. i never looked under a 2.5s but i'd assume it has the same thing....

you guys should come out to a car meet in Sacramento sunday if you can lol i found out about it in the California section of the NICO forums.

not to dis mehdi or anything but he didnt know what he was talking about... ive track tested my car and have numbers to show that it is actually faster... i ran a 14.4 stock, 14.2 with exhaust, and a 13.9 with no muffler and all were at the same track with similar weather conditions. mehdi did say its not the best thing for daily driving and i agree with that because you'll have no back pressure and you'll lose a lot of low end power but up high it will pull much harder and scream like crazy..... thats why i got a electronic exhaust cut-out. so i can chill and drive normal and then hit the switch and have my car like its straight piped.

thing is, both 2.5s and 3.5se have MORE then enough power for daily driving if its stock or straight piped. only difference is that straight piped is faster for racing.

My friend did it to his Mazda 6. Very nice low grunt that is not annoying at all. Made his 4cyl sound like my v8 truck when i had it.

PB Blaster FTMFW!!!I just sprayed a little on there, waited for about five minutes, then took the socket wrench to it...came off like a breeze! I was surprised with how good it sounded. Really deep and somewhat burbly...not ricey by any stretch of the imagination. The only problem is that it's LOUD!!! Either way, I'm getting a local shop to fab up a y-pipe right after the flange and put in a pair of straight pipes on Monday...

Cutting?!?!?! Dude, what are you cutting? The bolts? It shouldn't be that difficult to get the nuts off. Try using a breaker bar with your wrench...

BUMP..

so we know straight pipe exhausts may result in loss of some power because theres no back pressure..but is there any risk for problems in the future? i got my straight pipes done yesterday but im afraid i might have problems in the future maybe? i dont know..i just wana have this car for a while and im trying to make sure now if its gona be safe..

OK everyone keeps saying less back pressure causes loss of low end torque.

Please understand it's NOT back pressure, it is the loss of the exhaust's escape velocity which at low revs affects the torque, and that will usually have more to do with the diameter of the piping and length of the certain exhaust parts combined. Removing the muffler just means you will be reducing back pressure which shouldn't not really mess with the low end, and at higher revs will only help top end, of course.

Having back pressure to create or help with low end torque does not logically make sense. Think about it. There are several websites which will educate you on this very fact. Here's a link that explains it well: http://www.j-body.org/faq//142/

Back on topic, I think a member here has the Artisan or straight pipe on their 2.5 and it does sound good once it reaches higher revs. Quite aggressive.

i just used a air gun and the bolts came off real easy... and as for loss of low end power, ironicly i actually got better 60 ft times at the track....
