Here's the story... my 90' 240sx all motor with about $15k in it was for sale in a local grocery store parking lot, when i drove by one day and it wasn't there. I immediately called the police depratment but i felt like i was dealing with idiots. 2 days later an officer stopped to help someone out of the mud; they were driving a 90' nissan 240sx... MY CAR! the officer ran the plates and realized it was stolen. Finally they get the 2 guys in custody and question them, and nobody's stories matched so they said i couldn't press charges... my car was towed to my house. i looked at the mud monster that was previously my baby. for weeks it hurt me just to look at it, a work of art that i poured my heart and soul into for 4 years, and it looked like a beater. Finally i went and began to clean it. it took about a week to clean up, then i started her...immediately i heard a tapping under my valve cover... i took off the cover and looked... the intire rockerarm was hollow, the adjuster was gone somewhere in my engine ( i have a nismo valvetrain with a hydraulic to solid lifter conversion). I re-tapped the hole and used a larger adjuster. i drove the car for a while, and apparently they used the nitrous because my head gasket was BLOWN! im currently in the process of replacing my $3k sound system (stolen), and looking for a metal head gasket (due to some slack-jawed redneck peice of horse sh-t tearring my baby apart). if anyone can help me with a place to buy a metal head gasket for my KA24e, i would greatly appreciate it, thanks! i hope you all have better luck, and this story brightened your day

thats horrable.... i hate when people steal cars.... but when the car is your pride and joy it just tears a hole in you.

im definately going to have car alarm, fuel cut-off switches, and some sort of gps or lo-jack system when i build up my car .... i keep hearing about too many cars being stolen.

I don't get how you can't press charges. They were in possession of your stolen car. I would talk to the District Attorney. While pressing charges may not help your situation, you can at least feel better having gotten some car theives off the streets for a little while.

I take it you don't have comprehensive coverage on your auto policy?

That doesn't make me feel better, it makes me feel like s#*t because I know exactly what you are going through. I lost my first baby that way. If any of you are. or were, into the minitruckin scene, it was in the June '99 issue of Minitruckin' Magazine, and then 2 weeks later it was gone, never to be seen again. trust me, I feel ya man.

I'm not trying to change the subject but where did you find a nismo solid lift conversion? I don't see a solid lift conversion on the Nismo site. And could you please tell me how it is configured? I'm currently in the process of making a set from Hydraulic rockers. Would be very interested if they replaced the plunger with a screw or do you you only drill a small hole in top for a set screw and lock nut to adjust the stock plunger?

I ordered it from i think it was nismoparts.com (this was in about dec of 98'). if it wasn't that, it was some Nismo parts carrier online, just do searches, you'll probably find it. To fix the one rockerarm that the adjuster was stripped out of i got a tap and dye set at a local hardware store, found a similar adjuster type screw and tapped out the hole (to a slightly larger diameter) and then replaced the adjuster with a nut. i also had to shave the inside of the valve cover to reduce risk of tapping. if you'd like to make your own valve train, i'd say, take off all your hydraulic rockerarms and do what i did. it's been holding up for about 2 months, and hasn't changed still set at .010 where i set it.

If anyone knows where i can find a metal head gasket for a KA24e , i'd like to get this baby back racing a.s.a.p.! thanks

Open4Cycle....RealNissan.com has a solid lifter conversion that they use if you cannot find the Nismo ones. However I do not know how good they are.

Yes I know that realnissan will machine existing rocker arms to solid. What I really need to know is how some are made that have been tryed and proven. So what I'm asking is did they tap through the top of the rocker arm to push against the existing plunger? Or did they remove the exisiting plunger and tap the big hole that the plunger fits inside of? I have been slowly making in spare time some internally threaded bushing inserts that replace the plungers with press fit into the plunger hole. Then using a modified set screw for the adjuster.

Oh by the way I have looked several times on Nismo web site for solid lift rockers or conversion. Nothing there that I could find. One more thing, I don't remeber where but there is a performance parts place that handles both foriegn and domestic cars that can custom cut a copper head gasket for you. I think it was about $50.00. The thinist one was .032".

0.032" * 25.4mm per inch= 0.8128mmOn another note, I would call the nearest TV station and see if they could do a piece on the situation and how the system has failed to rectify things. Nothing like a PR nightmare to get things moving in the right direction.
