i plan on running 14psi soon on my stock turbo but i've heard it cant hold that much boost all the up to 7000rpm and will drop back down to 10 or so. Can anyone confirm this?

that sounds about right

turbo theory: theres a point where the compressor stops being efficient and starts moving so fast that it is actually chopping the air, and causing trepidation, and heating up the charged air, causing the pressure drop

at 10 psi, the stock CA t25 is moving at something like 250,000 rpms .. (somebody check me on these numbers)

actually the red tp sr turbo will make 20+ more hp over a ca18det turbo... its just slightly bigger...

the redtop turbo will hold 15 psi to redline, my friend has one. I have an extra one in good shape in my for sale post if you want to try a good one for cheap. My stock CA turbo was holding more than 10 psi to redline if I recall correctly when my vaccum line got a hole in it it was at least 12 psi at like 7k....

I don't buy it. Unless you're running the stock sidemount, I KNOW the CA turbo won't hold that till redline. I was running a gigantic FMIC and it would barely hold stock boost to redline.

Remember, you can move the same amount of air, at less pressure, with lower temperatures. The flipside to that is that you can also move the same amount of air at a higher pressure with greater temperatures.

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to tell you which is better to run...

nah it defintely held it, it was running 15 psi by 2500-3000 rpm and held it up to nearly 6000 rpm and then it dropped off a few psi. I just can't remember how far it dropped off. It currently holds 10 psi to 7k rpm so its defintley capable of more than stock boost. The sr20 turbo is capable of running substantially more.

I think what it will do depend on the intercooler and the manifold inlet temperatures.
