So this is wierd, I have just purchased this car from a friend of mine. now when you start the car (hot or cold) then kicks over fine, runs up to about 2k then instead of coming back to idle it just comes down to zero like theres nothing wrong no odd sounds or kicks. Now if i start the car and hit the gas for 5 seconds then release it the car idles great, smooth at 600 rpm. The friend of mine that I bought the car from had just had the water pump replaced and the mechanic told him the idle had to be adjusted????? Never heard of this before on a fuel injected car. Any Ideas?

Bump, Still having this problem but it is more when the car is warm. When it is cold the Icav holds the ilde at 1200 as it sould, but when it is warm and it sould idle at 600 on start it just drops to zero unless I hit the gas for a second or 2.

Any suggestionsJ

Throttle position sensor. I would check that out and go from there.

I had the same prob until I fixed my exhaust leaks yesterday and cleaned out my MAF with almost an entire bottle of MAF cleaner.. Keep in mind, I've heard that MAF cleaner isn't good for our MAFs but that might be BS. Anyhow, worked for me and now my car starts smoooothh
