I have an '08 350z and I notice that it is much faster than the previous models but in general, It's not that fast on stock. My friend also has a VQ35 HR, and his is '07. Thing is when He got his stillen catback exhaust, I noticed that his acceleration GREATLY improved and even greater when He got his nismo dual intake kit. So in question, How many of you think that the 350z isn't that fast on stock? I wana know what you guys think. Cause I have beaten my friend in his S2000, beaten another friend in his WRX, and another friend of mine in his IS300. THING IS WE ARE ALL IN STOCK TRIM. BUT THE THING I FIND VERY INTERESTING IS THAT I'VE ALREADY BEATEN ALL OF THEM ON STOCK, BUT ON THE ROAD A ****IN MINIVAN SMOKES THE **** OUT OF ALL OF US. I don't understand. And I'm pretty sure some of you have beaten some fast cars on either stock or lightly modified trim, but when it came time for you to cut in front of that fukn minivan, it simply seemed like it was FASTER??? Help me out here. I'm searchin for answers

I guess I'm taking too long to shift I suppose...That and I don't take my RPM past 4,000. Maybe thats why. I did when I raced my boy in his WRX, and I laced him by 3 car lenghts =) Ohh well I was just wonderin. I really just kinda sped up when the van was goin full throttle when I wasn't.

if you dont go past 4,000 rpms, then you havent seen even half of your z's potential. Dont waste our time on questions like this when you just answered it yourself.

No you should not be getting smoked by a minivan. If your not pushing your car past 4,000 RPMS you are driving conservative, and if you have to ask why and when you should shift while driving fast then you probably shouldn't drive the car fast at all. These cars aren't the fastest thing on the road but they do have some balls, I recommend getting more experience behind the wheel before you start racing the car, there is no sense in putting your self and others in danger.

You have an auto, you don't shift.

Take 4 seconds to go to nissan's website to get the specs.

306 HP at 6800 RPM268 lb-ft at 4800 RPM

sheesh.
