well that depends on how you handle your tools srry had to. yes you can, and i wonder what intake header exhuast would do to this car i mean how much of difference will this make in 0-60 numbers we need a manual 2.5 to get on a dyno with full bolt ons

We can definitely offer a ceramic coating finish but that would cost more. To ceramic coat these figure around an extra $100.00 or so.

Also, the polished ones are more than likely a mild steel whereas these are stainless steel. Additionally most Ebay headers use really thin flanges which overtime will warp and cause leaks, the thicker flanges do cost more obviously.

if you look at the welds to the flange ... they are not finished.. this prolly isnt a pic of the finished product... just something that they had laying around for the website.

but i dont know....
I assure you, the welds are completely finished. We only use the welds on the outside as spot welds to keep the pipes and flange connected. The finished welds are actually on the inside of the flange. They are welded 360 degrees internally. you can not weld a header 360 degrees on the inside and the outside as that will not allow the metal to expand and contract during the heat cycle. Locking it in by welding around the inside and outside can and will cause cracks overtime.

IMO most places would just make something that fits, and as soon as they have it, rush it into production...

Kudos to the guys at Stillen for their development!

thank you very much for your insight LBC! As it has been said, we could have just rushed these out to market immediately and said, ehhh...too bad if they set off lights, but as you have all become accustomed to....That is just not our way of doing things. Before we release a product for sale it must achieve a level of quality second to none. Some may think the welds are not "pretty" but when you see them in person you will see that the welds/seams are uniform and precise. yea, they're "large" or convex but that is the nature of a mig-weld. Tig-welding leaves a nice pretty "roll of dimes" but it also adds a huge amount of labor/cost.

Additionally, these headers are all coated with a high temperature paint/coating (the matte grey paint you see) which is a rust prevention step. That way your headers dont' start to rust at the weld and won't look like crap over time. Just one more step we take to ensuring a great service life.

These are designed to be installed by the qualified DIYer. That is why we designed that secondary slip joint with the O2 bung already installed. Our intial discussions involved the need to have a secondary O2 bung welded downstream of your secondary catalytic converter. Our engineer's kept in mind that these need to be affordable and easy to install. Josh and I pushed hard on them to keep in mind that we want these to be able to be installed in someone's driveway.

By supplying you guys with that little slip joint it allows you to simply cut off the rear section of your secondary B-pipes which is pretty thin wall tubing from the factory and will cut EASILY with a hacksaw. From there you slide over this slip joint which has already been fitted with the new O2 bung. You will need to extend your O2 sensor wiring which is pretty easy as we also include the necessary wires at the pre-cut lengths. Solder it up and you're done.

If the soldering/wiring concers you at all...DON'T BE SCARED OF IT. I personally hated wiring for YEARS. I did not want to do it as it scared the crap out of me. But, a few months back I got some new headlights for the truck and decided to tackle the soldering and wiring on my own. It was an absolute piece of cake and the process was very similar to this. just cut the factory wires, and lengthen them. Red to red, green to green, black to black...You really can't screw it up.

$1,000 or not, i think alot of people will still buy them. Back when i had my Acura CL-S, the Comptech (CT Engineering) headers costed rougly $1,200 brand new and people were still buying them like crazy. Even when XS Power, OBX, and DC were selling their headers for $200-$400.

You get what you pay for....quality wise

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to come off as a smart a$s. But I do have a very sarcastic sense of humor, I didn't mean to be cracking a joke or anything I was just stating, I do that a lot and not notice it and I apologize

In any case someone hurry up and get these so we can get some feedback

Question for the Stillen guys:Since this probably does away with the stock heat shield, would you recommend wrapping the header in exhaust wrap to keep engine bay temperatures down? Or could that cause rust problems down the line? Thanks

Header wrap can cause corrosion problems down the road as it does trap moisture between the header and the pipes.

I would not recommend using headerwrap.

It is very easy to go back to stock, just remove the O2 sensor from the bung, and put in a plug...It is very easy to revert back to stock with this system.

^ Hrmmm Kyle, are you guys providing that plug because you know that everybody will have to revert back to stock at one point and time.

dude, in Cali, you don't have to worry about emissions until 5-6 years after you buy a brand new car.... are you still gonna have your car in 2012?

wow, in almost every way, California sucks compared to other states... and even though the CARB regulations suck, at least they give us a 5 year window on new vehicles

Vehicles less than 5 years old do not require a test. I don't plan on having this car probably in 5 years so no e-test for me
