stillen...i just say do it. i would love to get a set of these. i put my car on the lift at work the other day, and i look at the y pipe and the is a crimp in it that robs us of much needed power. also i know that the the piping for the 5.5gen maximas in the precats is no more than 1.5" big.

i say you guys make the set, and dont add any crimps in it.

how big of piping will you guys use. 2.5" should be really good for an NA setup.

Don't get me wrong, I still want to see headers for our cars. Specially for people who are really into N/A builds. But after reading countless reviews/opinions for headers on a vq35de it has shown little to no gains in power due to the short headers we have. I still have yet to see Stillen dyno numbers proving their claims.

IMO the money to power gain ratio isn't worth the trouble unless someone proves me wrong =) (dyno numbers or it didn't happen)

I will say it for the 3rd time, HFC/TP's and Y-pipe all the way!

Agreed.

After all, most of us on these forums are tuners at heart or at least car enthusiasts and will mods our cars slightly outside of what is legal. I hope headers are just the start of things to come and get the hp Kyle claims they will get. Anyways, just hoping the guys at Stillen view us A/C drivers the same way they think of other VQ running car… Sometimes I wish I picked up a used G35 just for the established part support but I know we'll get their as long as great companies like Stillen keep their ears open to all of us like they've been doing here on the forums.

A thousand dollars seems a bit too pricy.....A local race shop said they would do it for 4-500

Therefore, you may find someone that is cheaper.

Just to give you guys who are clamoring for a y-pipe relax prototyping on one has begin, wait for a bit the process has already started. I can't say much more then that but hopefully there should be a y-pipe for the 3.5's in a couple of months.

I would gladly purchase these when the funds permitted if they were $600 and install was not a grand. Somewhere around 4-500 like mentioned earlier would be quite realistic for future mod.

I took my car in, they hoisted her up, took a look at the pipe realized the flanges are different from anything they have so they took all the measurements, to have new flanges laser cut. Then they will call me back for test fitting, dynoing and all that. I am just telling you guys so you stop pestering poor kyle at stillen. There also maybe...maybe... a short shifter for the MT folks.

This thread is a lifesaver. Just like Rob, I was also kind of wishing that I had bought a different car because of the lack of mods for our cars. Im glad that Stillen has continued to develop parts for the Altima coupe, and as this thread justifies they have no plans of stopping. Im ecstatic to know that Stillen has begun work on the Y pipe, and and hope that the test pipes, and high flow cats follow shortly after. As far as headers, installation will not be a problem for me, and I understand that manufacturing will take longer so I hope that as each product is finished it is released so that the wait isnt to long. Y pipe, High flow cats, test pipes will not be complete without headers, downpipe combo

Oh I just didn't want people to inundate kyle with emails about y-pipes when stillen may or may not be working on one. I just wanted some of the folks here to know know the process has started, and haven't said which company so they are not bombarded with emails as well. I agreed to use my car for the prototyping back in apr/may and my car was taken in recently for test fitting and measurements. Long story short there is a y-pipe coming .... but all good things come with time.

3rd cat is not a precat. The first 2 are precats used to measure smog during the intial startup. The 3rd one is the actual cat for normal use. However, its not measured. The final O2 senors are just behind cat 1 and 2.

Hey guys, i was wondering if their are any sensors on the 3rd CAT. Reason being is because a local custom exhaust shop said they could definitely make me a custom y-pipe and take out the third CAT if their isn't a sensor. What do you guys thing about this..... I really am interested and i don't think it would be too much cash to have it done. I was going to take a ride down to their shop (half hour away) and have them put it up on the lift to have a look around. Mainly, i believe i read some where on this forum that their are only o2 sensors on the first two CATS and non on the third; meaning i can rip that sucker out of there and get a custom y-pipe in there...........Good idea?? or is it not worth it

i took off my 3rd cat before..... i'm thinking about taking it back off again but not sure. i put it back on for stupid reasons. but to answer your question, NO there are NO sensors in the 3rd cat so feel free to rip it out, you WONT get a check engine light or anything. when i put my 3rd cat back ON i noticed 2 things, it was a little quicker in the lower RPMS (with the cat on) but up high in the RPMs it was HELLA SLOWER!!!! (with the 3rd cat on). so taking it off will make you a little slower down low but the up high power is a good improvement
