simple as the topic... which one will win????

I look up the research... I will lose no matter what. What are the couple things that I can get to get the most performace? I am saying like the regular stuff.. like exhaust, intake, and headers.. etc. Not like Turbo and stuff...Can anyone who has an experience tell me what I can do?

The STi is lighter by about 150 lbs, has about the same power, and AWD. Based on these facts, I'd give the edge to the STi. Acceleration test results suggest the STi will be faster as well.

With the G, you'll look better...even if you don't win.

(have you seen the STi? Only a mother could love that fascia!!)

Ouch, I like the sti,but I love this car. I don't think anything compares to the look of the g35 coupe. Yeah it's true, sti will probably win that race, but check out the mod database up top and you should be able to bump up your power a little.

The STI will undoubtably tear it up, and how can any of you say the STI is ugly? wtf? I can say that the G35 coupe is a nice vehicle but I wouldnt say it looks all that much better than the STI.

I always thought the STI had the old school body of the 90's / rally cars from Europe, which is a turn on to some, but personally not something I like. The new versions are starting to look a lot more aerodynamic/sexy though.

I'm not sure if this is a serious question or not. Out of the box, the STi is undoubtedly the faster (straight line or cornering). Then again, that's the aim of the design. The G35 (I'm presuming the coupe here), by contrast, would likely be much more comfortable. And IMHO, is the more aesthetically pleasing of the two (though I don't hate on the Subie's looks). Again, that is what the manufacturer intended: a sporty luxury car. Now, once you get into mods and upgrades, it becomes a moot argument. A fully prepped Pikes Peak big rig could probably handle a stock STi in a hill climb.

So, I guess it all boils down to what your overall goal is. Out of the box performance? Comfort? No-holds-barred racer? Daily driver/weekend toy? Budget for mods after the purchase? Style? Doing any commuting in the snow at all? It depends on what you're looking to get out of it. Either one can be a winner depending on what the objective is.

about same price, but g35 is more like a lux sport sedan & sti is more like a rally car. for the numerical stand point, sti wins g35 easily, but make sure sti is what you want.

here are things you must think about

sti only comes with 6speed manual with which not everyone can drive well enough to enjoy the car.

insurance premium is crazy for sti...probably one of the highest if not the highest

ride quality is pretty bad & quiet noisy, too (not just engine, but road & wind noises)

interior is lame at least imho

mpg is even lower than not so good g35 & 93 octane rating gas recommended (super premium or whatever shell calls it)

styling is not for everyone & draws unwanted attentions from cops

i think legacy limited is probably comparable to g35

anyway, what i like about sti was its brutalness; the feel of car wasn't really refined, but you can push the car like crazy with less risks + i like those 4 pisoton front brake & 2 piston rear calipers unlike el cheapo g35 SINGLE piston slide brake caliper

The way any car looks is really a matter of opinion so I don't see how you can question it. It would open up your opinion that the g35 doesn't look "all that much better than the STi".

My own opinion is the Impreza in any form is not exactly a car I would ever purchase based on how it looks.

Haha, not to mention for the sti they are damned expensive for what you are buying. 30g + for a purpose built racecar and only a racecar. So yeah, the sti would win. Now if you built each one it would probably equal out in the end. The g35 is a luxury sports car. It does really well with that mark. The sti is expensive to keep up. Ask the coupes with the 6mt opt with brembo's that is expensive to keep up those brakes. The wheels are pricey as hell if you ding them to fix, cause they are forged. The sti has the same problems and more. You are talking a more expensive driveline being awd. So it's more of a cost for your regular fluid changes for diffs and all kinds of things. The wheels are pricey on the sti,the tires last for almost nothing being the advans,so on top of the insurance you pay,and the cost for everything else, you have to think about that in your final cost. It's a hard ride, and it's meant to be,it will handle better, but the ride won't nearly be anything as nice as the g.

agreemaybe, i am getting old, but impreza looks little outdated at least imho; it appears that subaru engineers are giving the performance a higher priority over the look. for every new generation, i feel like subaru is testing the loyality of its fans by releasing not so hot looking cars. that's just my opinion, of course, but since this is g35 forum, i bet there are many who will agree with me.

btw, i think playstation racing game gt was the one that made impreza popular. the feel of driving on the public road isn't that great...i prefer g35 over sti; if i have to push the car, i would prefer sti, but there is no place where i live to push sti. g35 & bmw 3 are the ones that are great on the road than on the paper.

if i have to add, bmw 3 is still the king of sport sedans, but g35 is like a crown price waiting for the king to be retired (or dead )

you guys are forgetting a important detail when comparing the 2 cars the sti has a TURBO so that boost helps a great deal now throw a turbo on g35 and whats that like close to 500hp

Yeah, I think they were looking for stock comparos. Sti is a race car in street clothing,it's not as comfortable, but it is faster and will handle better. G35 is very comfortable and handles really well and is fast enough for most. I'd like to drop a twin turbo in it,but I'm happy with the power.

The G35 has a larger motor. So what? HP is HP no matter which way you slice it and both are comparable in HP. But as I said before, the STi is lighter and the AWD can allow for some much better lauches. We can sit here and theorize about what we can do with different mods all we want, but that would be a different comparison than what is being asked here. The STi is a better performer. No need to be defensive about it.

Two very different cars here….no doubt the sti will beat the g35 in performance but that’s about it. Over all…bang for the buck..the G wins hand down…the sti is a kidish car were the G is more refined. It has luxury, style and good performance all rolled into one. I had a super charged steeda mustang before my G so I had already gone through that…”I don’t car about the quality of the car I just want something fast” phase. The sti is around 30grand and what do you get?…a fast car but that’s about it..the interior isn’t very nice..the body style looks like its straight out of the 90’s and that big wing looks like crap. My roommate has one that’s all supped up..don’t get me wrong fast and fun but over all not that nice of a car. if all you care about is speed go with the sti..you may beat me in a race but i can Guarantee the girls would much rather go out on a date in my G then in your “fast and kidish” STI

Haha, not to mention the girls won't be really even be able to hear you with the exhaust on the subies. The good exhausts on the subies are deep and loud, nothing something to many people want to deal with.
