OK. So I'm replacing my head unit in the 720. Was wondering if anyone has ever done this. I will run 14 gauge to the rear 6x9s but I also used a 4" pioneer for the fronts with the standard wire harness. I will definitely have to run the yellow [memory/clock etc] to battery or non-switched fuse block but I was hoping to get away with using the stock stereo harness to pick off the main power and two front speaker lead pairs. Question is.....what color is are they? I can take a picture of what I'm looking at if it would help but if anyone's done this before I'd appreciate some guidance.

I just terminated the harness and did it all from scratch. My truck only had a passenger side speaker anyways, so it wasn't a big deal to run like four extra wires.

i did mine the wires should only be grey(speaker) and black or brown i think for power very basic, i think idk its been awhile. i ran a fused wire straight from the Batt. to the memory. you are gonna have to dremmel out the plastic to make fit as well. i have pioneer HU, two 6in in front kick panels, had to use MDF donuts to fit, and a 12in sub in back cab

Thanks Kick....I will try brown for power....seems like I tried red and white [the logical choices] but not brown or black yet.

as I recall, my stock AM radio had a power, a ground, a wire for the lights, and a pair of speaker wires. I believe brown was power.

And yeah, had to dremmel out my dash to make a head unit fit and used MDF donuts to get 6.5" speakers to fit in the kick panels.

I hacked up the cab above the seat belt take ups for 6x9s, still haven't gotten it to work. The unit is good as I tested it off the battery. We'll see....tomorrow is another day....I think I just need a better ground.

Had to dremel out the sides of the stereo unit opening so it would fit. The stock radio was much much smaller then the sony i was installing. Should have taken pictures. Anyways after some searching i found an adapter at walmart to simplify things a little bit, got all that together, and with some tight squeezing got it all packed in there. Actually its not even screwed in. The fit is perfect so it just sits in there happy as can be. Front two speakers and head unit all attached to stock adapter.

When i find a way to fit some 6x9's and subs in there, i will have to connect them to an amp for sure.
