I just put my old cd player in my car ('93 240SX SE). The cd player that was in it was broken. I had some problems. The ground wire on the harness wasn't working so I put my ground under a screw by the gearshift. Now no sound will come out. When I turn the stereo on, I hear a click in the dash, and a small thump from the speakers. If I hook a 9v battery to the speaker wires, I hear no thump. The door speakers say "active speaker", so I assume there are factory amps somewhere. Do these have their own fuses? I need help, please! Thanks,

T i M

first you can try making sure you have your remote on power hooked up....that will turn the amps on..if it still doens't work.bypass the amps or better yet run new wires

I hooked up the remote wire, and the inline fuse is good. One thing I noticed while I was having problems w/ the wiring harness: When I hooked everything up and plugged into the head unit, I'd hear the power window motor. Now I don't hear it. Could this problem be linked?

I had the same setup on my '93. Yes, the "Active Speaker" system meant seperate amps for the front speakers, and a single stereo amp for the rears. If the stereo you are installing is not a stock Nissan CD player made for the Active Speaker system, it will not work. What I did, and what I recommend, is bypassing the stock amps and running wire straight to the deck. It is easier than it seems, and reduces load on the alternator.

YES the amps each have their own fuses. The front amps are behind the speakers, and the rear amp is on the left side, behind the rear left speaker.

YES the noise from the window could have resulted from a ground loop caused by having two grounds on one component. Try disconnecting that ground wire and only grounding the system by the shell of the deck, which will be grounded when you put the deck in and insert one of the top bolts.

Thanks. I'll just run new wires. I wanna use my own amps anyway.

it will work.

are you sure its your window and not your power antenna motor?

i just put in my new cd player, and had everything hooked up right, but left the light green wire alone.that may be your problem if its not hooked up to the deck. once i hooked that up to the amp turn on wire on my deck, it worked.

check my thread about this, search for: s13 stereo wires it should have whatever you need about the different wires.

Thanks. Hooking up the light green wire didn't fix it for me, but the dark green one to the amp turn on did. There's a lot of vibration when I have my deck set on loud (or the without loud w/ volume above 10 and bass at 2). Any way of reducing that? I'm thinking about stuffing some insulation behind the speakers.

thats odd because mine works fine with light green to amp turn on, and the dark green on mine goes to one of my speakers. i have no vibration, but i couldnt get that damn stock tape deck out of the bracket. theyre screwed in so hard. im not that weak either...but i ended up stripping the screws. the stripping was not because of the screwdriver coming out, but the metal actually turned when i turned the screwdriver.

hope you get it working right!
