I took my car in today to replace the steering wheel trim under warranty. Today is my last day of the 4yr/60K mile basic warranty :(

Anyway, the service rep was super nice and got me in and out within 15 minutes with a loaner car. Props to Kyle at Zimbrick Infiniti!

He set me up with a 2014 Q50S loaded with the Nav and deluxe touring package. The car looks fantastic, and has a lot of the amenities that my M37 has (minus the technology package). The materials used are nice, there's definitely less premium materials on the inside than the M. The interior is comfortable for a DD but you can tell more sport oriented.

The steer-by-wire is definitely something that you need to get used to. Though I didn't fully test it out, I did switch to to sport mode which made the steer unnecessarily heavy. At normal mode, the steering emulated power assisted steering well enough. it did not provide feedback from the imperfections on the road however, which some may or may not prefer. Acceleration is what is expected from the 3.7 VQ mated with the 7AT transmission. The suspension is firm, but comfortable and handles well in stock form.

The dual touch screen center stack is nice enough. There are hard buttons to use for climate control but a lot of the functions are accessed through the touch screen which takes your eyes off the road for much too long. The software they used seem to have just enough processing power to run the functions as the screen is a little jerky. You would think by this point, they would have screens like this set up as smoothly as what powers our phones. There is just a slight delay after input. It's not something that I would seek out as a feature.

All in all - I don't know if this car is a good replacement for the outgoing G37 sedan but I'm sure in upcoming years, they will improve on the general design. I wouldn't run out to purchase quite yet.
