New to the forums here.
I'm considering getting the 2007 G35x, and enjoyed my test drive -- though with the salesman in the car, didn't really push the car very hard. However, a friend of mine also test drove the same car, and was concerned about the steering at speed -- he felt that it stiffened up too much, and made handling a bit more difficult (he was comparing to his current Subaru WRX).
Anyways, after a bit more digging on the internet, Edmund's review addressed this concern as well:
"Our only dynamic-handling complaint has to do with the G's steering. Ratio and feedback are right on, but the vehicle's speed-sensitive steering assist needs a little sorting. When the vehicle speed is changing rapidly up and down — like when you're charging a mountain road — changes in the assist are too radical and too slow to come, which can give the steering an artificial, video-game quality."

My friend agreed with this assessment as well.
Anyways, if there are any 2007 G35x owners here, I'd really appreciate your long-term, real-world opinions. Is this something I really should be concerned about? If it's just a tuning of the steering assist, would I be better off waiting for the 2008 models? Or is this really not that big a deal. Edmunds does, after all, head the section with "Class-leading agility"
I'm probably going to test drive the car again, to push it a bit more. However, your collected opinions would be valuable, since something "different" doesn't mean always "worse." And I'm curious whether after driving the car for a while, and getting used to the handling, if you view this as a positive, negative, or neutral factor.
Thanks very much in advance.
