Had my 1963 NL320 in for a Pennsylvania state required inspection...need tie rods, kingpins, figure I would rework all steering components at same time, then should be good for a while. I'm a new owner,so getting a learning experience.Any advice on wheel alignments would also be helpful. Figure I would check if someone would have a package of info. On this, exploded views always help.need info on good service manual also.

Hotpad,

First welcome aboard! :bigthumb: We'll do our best to make NiCo and the 320 Forum your one stop shop for everything Datsun PL-320. I have a fleet of 320 in various states of repair, restoration, and running conditions. So if you have a question, need answers, parts or technical advise, NiCo is the place to start.

Okay, here we go.....

-Before getting into the parts piece have you cleaned up all of the steering components? I think you will find that after a thorough scrubbing your parts list might decrease a little or simply realize a less expensive pieces/part will work.

- Here's the steering schematic- not much to go wrong here.

I'd start by cleaning up the steering linkage-

And the front axle/hub assembly

Parts list-
-For the parts you are looking for a Datsun 520 should work, but do not quote me on that, I am not that far along on my one steering system. Let me do some research and see if I can find anything for you.
- Tie Rods - a 520 should work; however, I think you will find you only need boot covers - available through Whiteline. Just follow their instructions for how to measure the dimension. Again, should be the same as a 520 and maybe even later model 521 and 620s. Here's a listing from eBay, price seems reasonable

- King Pins - several available on eBay right know. Again a thorough cleaning of backside of the front axle/drum assembly might reveal you only to change out the grease nipple and apply new grease.

This listing is from Thailand, but I have had ZERO issue with purchases from Thailand and I have made more than several from a couple of vendors.
- I would definitely change out the upper bushings. Just a note there are not lower rubber bushing on a 320. Here's a link to an eBay listing. You'll need to order 2 sets

Give me a few to find the link to the service and parts manual.

Well this should get you started. Again welcome aboard!

The following parts are listed for a 1965 520 truck. Since they were still making 320s in 65, I would bet these will fit your 320, but there is no guarantee:

Ends for cross rod:
Left inner, RAYBESTOS Part # 4011190
Right inner, RAYBESTOS Part # 4011189

Outer tie rods:
Left, RAYBESTOS Part # 4051013
Right, RAYBESTOS Part # 4051012

wow, thanks conner....have to save these part numbers for a rainy day.

Studying for class tonight so I'll compare these prices with a few parts stores and eBay tomorrow. I'd say buying local is the way to go as you can always get a refund if they are metric versus SAE. Pretty sure they are SAE.

I have my '62 steering all zip-tied up so I'll cut the ties and take some pics/post tomorrow. I'm building a jig to put the steering rack on while I rebuild/refurbish it. Have the supplies for the jig, just have to build it.

Haven't forgot about the steering boot. I located the pieces for my '62. One piece is on the column and the other is melted to the cab still.

Thanks again for the part numbers. One of these days I'll get around to posting a parts list thread.

Heading to VB this afternoon....need any parts info?

v/r
Andy
