Yesterday I started my 1993 Q45 (130,000) and moved it so another car could move. I came out the next morning and tried to start the car and it made a strange sound and turned over repeatedly but would not start. It sounded like it was starved for fuel. I also noticed the fuel pump was making a loud humming sound from the rear of the car. It has been running rough for about a week and a half. Like at a stop sign it runs rough enough to make the care jump a little at idle. At higher speeds it is not as noticable. I am kind of stuck at my mothers house in Indiana until I can figure this one out. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have the chain guides been replaced?

Hopefully it's not the chain guides...SERIOUS money there. Another guess is a bad fuel pump and/or controller. It's 3-voltage; maybe it's not working at the startup voltage. I'd suggest getting a fuel pressure gauge on there and taking a reading while someone starts the car. Make sure pressure is around 34 psi at startup.

After checking 8 1993 Q45 only ONE had the old style guides.

Not statistically valid till 25-50 are checked.........but better odds than a 1992-1990.......which is ZERO.

If it was cold [below 40F] when you cranked it and didn't let it warm up by running 5 minutes, you probably flooded it and the next day start attempt flooded it more.

TOTALLY Floor the accelerator prior to turning the key and try to crank for up to 3-4 minutes........don't take foot off accelerator or change accel position during this continuous 3-4 minutes.

Good idea to check fuel pressure.

Thanks Guys......I checked the MAF sensor connection and cleaned the recepticle pins. I then tried to restart and held down on the accelerator until it turned over and started. I still have a rough running vehicle. But it got me back to Ohio, now the real spending begins. Have yet to check for 34psi from the fuel pump because I think injectors number 4 and 5 are bad, mucho sporadic ticking. Nothing close to what it should be. Is it possible to have a bad fuel pump and injectors at the same time. My injectors are yellow. Where is a good place to get a couple to replace the defective ones? I am told my chain guides are not the same ones on the 90 - 92. I am still going to have them looked at again because the more I read the more I am getting a little freaked out about something as terminal as screwed up heads and the such. Once again much appreciated.
