starting from scratch

ive always wanted one and now the dream has arrived, a new(well work in progress really) 300zx owner i am.. i know nothing about them or how to restore them but this is a project car for me and any help along the way is worth its weight in gold.. first up i have issues with flatspotting in low revs?? was thinking plugs n leads or maybe fuel/air filter or maybe all of the above.. any ideas.. and lastly, blistered paint although when i gave it a scratch it revealled black paint underneath so what is a good product to cut back paint.. thanking you in advance Zheadz
