I have recently been stranded in a parking lot because my 240 would not start. When I turn my key, absolutely nothing happens, no weird ehhhh sound and no clicking sound, absolutely nothing at all. My battery works fine, all my lights come on and I tested it with a voltage meter. To my suprise, the starter was getting the power needed, but still nothing happend at all. To the best of my knowledge I belive it is a bad solenoid and was wanting to just be sure of that before I go and replace it since I am a college kid with very little extra money to spend on these types of things. Any help and input is greatly appreciated.

there's a little blue box on the front pass. side of the car that went out on mine I think it's the ign. realy (not sure of the name) or you could do what I did 4 a while... LOL put the car in nutral and with a big screw driver touch the groud and power terminals on the starter 2gether and the car should strat right up. I did that 4 a few mouths

dont replace anything that isn't broken'. take your starter somewhere to get tested. If no good, get a new one. the blue box is where you Bat. is. right in the corner behind the head light you could test that out as well

ok like the rest i'm having this same prob. well would the car overheating and the radiator bursting cause any of this? I fixed the radiator temporarily and put a new thermostat in it. Then ran the car for a couple days. I have a remote start on my car and it wouldn't start with the remote so i tried the key and still wouldn't start so i unhooked all the remote start stuff and still nothing. I'm in college right now and car is at home i'm going to take the starter off and have it checked when i get back. Weird thing happened tho. I was able to push start it once - pop the clutch- and it ran fine then i went to do it again and it wouldn't so i checked under the hood. The positive lead on the battery was really hot like there was a short in the system. Plus all my lights were dimming afterwards and it drained all the juice from the battery. So i just left it be and had my parents take me back to college

hot wire....? check your ground wire or up grade it 2 0gauge wire. Also alot of aftermarket alarm systems may cause your car not to start as well, built in kill swich

I've got an hks engine ground wire kit. I've got plenty of good ground wires. Anyone ever heard of the crimestopper car alarm? My model is the cs-2016 if you're wondering

Hi I just got my 97 240sx its an automatic and i just replaced the alternator battery since it was testing bad then my car wouldnt start so i tapped the starter and it started. The next day my car wouldnt start again and it would click or crank when i turn the key so i replaced the starter now all i hear is a clicking sound after putting in the new starter. I was told to replaced the inhibitor relay and also the starter relay but I cant find the location of those 2 relays....please help
