Well the trans worked yesterday and the brakes did not. While trying to figure out the brakes the trans got screwed up. Brake booster line was inspected and removed tp check everything and all seems well.Q45tech wrote:Motor mounts [twisted transmission?]; vacuum line not connected to booster?
Twisted motor broke vacuum line to booster?
Yeah I think the trans is done. I drained my brand new fluid and it is the worst smelling thing that I have ever had come out of a car. It is also very dark which is not good seeing as how it has all of 1 mile on it.texasoil wrote:not sposed to be any black stuff there.
Brand new fluid is never less than bright pink and not burnt smelling.Chuby wrote:Yeah I think the trans is done. I drained my brand new fluid and it is the worst smelling thing that I have ever had come out of a car. It is also very dark which is not good seeing as how it has all of 1 mile on it.
Yeah I am pretty sure the trans is shot.maxnix wrote:Brand new fluid is never less than bright pink and not burnt smelling.
Something is very wrong.
Well i drained and refilled it and its still nasty. Without reverse it will be hard to drive it much of anywhere to get a flush done. I suppose I could tow it and have it doen but then I will most likely have to tow it back. I am fairly certain that it is shot going by the way the rest of the car has been cared for.If I rebuild it is there anything I should look for when getting it rebuilt? Anything particular about thats transmission?elwesso wrote:You might just try doing a full mechanical flush until perfectly clean, maybe its not completely beyond help?
Aren't Joe's rebuilds roughly 4k? Surely I can have one rebuilt for less than that. I would assume that as long as I keep the fluid and filter fresh I would still get a reasonable life out of a rebuild.elwesso wrote:Nothing except that the best course of action is to get a remanned one from Joe, it will endup being more reasonable in the long run because they last a LOT longer (IE as long as OEM) and will probably cost as much as a rebuild anyway...
Joe's reman would be ~$2200 shipped to you, with a $400 core credit when they receive the transmission.Chuby wrote:Aren't Joe's rebuilds roughly 4k? Surely I can have one rebuilt for less than that. Local rebuilds that replace all the parts that Nissan replaces with their quality will cost more, and be performed by less experienced technicians.Chuby wrote:Aren't Joe's rebuilds roughly 4k? So does Jatco supply the Q trannies to infiniti? This car will about be all new if/once I get it runningQ45tech wrote:JATCO the transmission manufacturer built a special USA reman factory in Tennessee to supply just dealers.
The dealer supplied remans automatically come with a remanned torque convertor AND a valve body remanned in Japan which means a new solenoid pack.
Many times they come with brand new planetaries which are equal to the cost of the transmission alone.
Local shops cannot compete other than just slapping in a $300 soft parts kit and hoping it holds together.
Many shops [including T3] just buy from dealer [$1900 with wholesale discount] and markup.
We charge ~~$2600 installed.
Some buy JDM takeouts and are lucky, some go thru many before they find a good one........................US junkyard units usually have too many miles.
Yes, and you will appreciate it even more when it is right.Chuby wrote:So does Jatco supply the Q trannies to infiniti? This car will about be all new if/once I get it running
