Hi there, I have managed to shear off the thread when removing the oil filter from my SR18DE engine. Not sure what it was put on with definitley not tightened by hand. Anyway I am assuming this is all a similar setup to the sr20 versions, how difficult is it to replace the bracket/housing? Can it be done with the engine in the car? Any advice would be greatly appreciated :) its an Avenir if that helps.

Can you post a picture of the hole with the threads or bits stuck in there? I'm wondering if part of your filter stayed in there and just needs to be removed or if your engine's actual threads have been damaged and need to be repaired.

Here's some instruction for posting pictures...
