I was just going through some classifieds and I was wondering if the fidanza flywheel for an SR would work on a KA and vice versa.

lol, topics like this need an explanation.

The KA clutch disc is 228 mm, and the SR clutch disc is 240mm.Spec makes a billet flywheel that has holes for both the KA and SR pressure plates.

That's all the info I have on the matter, maybe someone with a little more knowledge can chime in and let us know if the SR flywheel will work with the KA starter. As far as I know, the SR and KA trannys both use the same input shaft, so aside for the diameter, the clutch discs are the same. I could be wrong though. It's happened before.

Clutch disc diameters are different, which means the pressure plates are different. AFAIK, the pressure plate from a KA will not bolt to an SR flywheel and vice versa.

The starters are similar enough that you can swap the selenoid and guts between the housings. But that doesn't mean that the flywheels are similar as the starter itself doesn't bolt to the flywheel.

TO back up my claim http://www.northwestnissans.co...31635

Pressure plate bolt patterns are different. You can get machine shops to redrill the flywheel to accept different clutches, but it's money that could be spent elsewhere

The service manual supports me on this. The KA pressure plate has 6 bolts, SRs have 9.

Like I said, Spec makes a flywheel that is predrilled to accept both the KA and SR flywheel. That's if you intend to purchase an after market flywheel. His question was "Are the two interchangeable?" To which you submitted the correct answer of no. You cannot use an SR flywheel with a KA clutch kit. I expanded your short answer with an explanation as to why you can't. KA=228, SR=240.

That said, I expanded even further suggesting that perhaps you could switch to an entire SR clutch and flywheel setup in a KA, I'm not sure though, as the starter ring may differ.

My only experience with this is in the different years of Honda D series. The size and spline count changed, but with the right parts, you could interchange to a larger disc. I left it open for someone with actual hands on experience to shine some light on.

I'm pretty sure that the KA starter's supported drive gear interferes with the SR flywheel.
