Speedo Issue

HiNew to the site, I have an elderly neighbour who owns a Bluebird 1.8gs auto on a 89' plate. His speedo has stopped working, can anyone advise if it is cable that needs replacing or if their is anything else i need to check to help diagnose. Secondly, what is the capacity for the coolant on this model.
