Anybody ever heard of this? I ran into a kid who owns one. Didnt believe it till I personally drove it. He said the Nissan dealer told him bout it after they offered him $21k for it. Showed me 15 flat time slip top out at 90 mph. Great considering kid barely knew how to drive and cars pretty much stock except for K&N drop in filter and a rear sectional borla exhaust. Then I drove it. Definitely a difference from my 97. I know the car got a LSD, but dont think dat would be enough. Top ends definitely different. Alot more power, a lil bit more than wut i have now in mine. I basically almost every basic bolt on i can think off and this things stock running faster than mine. Anybody got any idea???

Yeah I thought this was a normal model designation.

You looked at the engine? Was it a KA or a SR or something else?

What year was the car?

How did you find out it had an LSD?

Ok. I like to think I know allot about Nissans hence I call my self "technoman" But I have never seen a special edition 240sx other than the 94 S13 convertible "limited edition". :bsflag

The SR20DET was NEVER offered in the US. The car might have had some internal mods (pistons, rods, crank, fly, cams, springs, etc.) The dealer might have found out it had these mods and said this just to get more money out of it. This is just a possibility though.

Point the kid to this thread! See what he has to say.

240s only come in three trim models: base, SEs, and LEs

I think it goes something like this, but correct me if i'm wrong:

base - base model

SEs - sportier suspension, painted mirrors to match body color, 5lugs, and a few other things. LSD/ABS is optional, and they come together as a package.

LEs - same as SEs but with leather interior, and LSD/ABS is standard.

the Special Edition version he's talking about is probably the SE model, with the LSD/ABS option.

LMAO...Iono man. I dont wanna believe it but i drove the damn thing. Made a believer of me just cuz i saw the STOCK KA under the hood. Well kid didnt say *special edition* i just used the damn term. I didnt see anything externally. Stock intake other than the K&N drop in filter. umm, pulleys were OEM, header was stock...exhaust was a borla rear sectional, even saw where it was welded on. Hmm...check VIN number? kid had da car for bout a yr or so...only 16 so kid knew diddly squat with his car so if it was moded internally it wasnt him. I know the thing has LSD cuz i drive an open diff and theres a major difference specially on wet road. Check da VIN maybe prior owner got a new engine and *tuned* it internally? Port & polish, cams, etc? Oh yah by the way, its a black 98 SE. Didnt look any different from any USDM MCS14. But driving it, definitely a difference. Id say its up par to my 240 rite now, maybe quicker. Thats after CAI, pulley, Greddy header and blitz catback and all hes done is a lousy K&N and borla exhaust .

Maybe his car seems so much faster because yours is not running well. maybe you need a tune up or something.

Hmm...its black tho....didnt see anything special interior wise. He also said that there only like 150 of them. 98, seems like nissans last *hurrah* b4 dey got rid of the USDM 240s. As for my ride not properly tuned...car had freakin 27k miles on it when i bought and it ran like ***. Car didnt *liven* up till i got my pulley and exhaust. :thinker

Wow, sounds like a damn good salesman to me! :) *wink*

No but really hard to say if its faster i'm a skepic and would have to drive to have proof... But if its got the borla exhaust and K&N drop in filter, both those parts can come from the Nissan Motorsports catalog and so maybe theres some other internals in there from the same catalog?

The Nissan dealership i work at is starting a new ploy on getting the younger generations to adapt to nissans, we are removing the stock hubcaps and steely's on base GXE sentras and putting american racing ones on (same 15" size) and tinting windows and putting a system in em... In my opion its funny stuff!

Although we have done some "factory mods" that the coustormers orded from us and we put on... The first is a Black 2003 350z Track edition that we put leather in and a upgraded system like the touring models come with. The other was a 2002 Spec-V that we put Stillen CAI, Stillen Axel back exhaust, Stillen rotors, Stillen Pads, and Stillen steel braided lines on.

cloudeone- do you work at Mcrae nissan? If so the older guy at the parts counter there hooked me a few times with parts for my s14 for cheap. It took a while for him to find the parts in the computer but he was cool about it. It looks like its a nice shop there, lots of room.
