This is not related to the Versa. My friend's car is having a problem with the spark plugs. Everytime he changes them the gap in the spark plug in cylinder 1 is always closed over, the other ones are fine but in cylinder 1 the gap always closes. I was wondering if the piston could be hitting it or if there might be some other problem. Sorry if this is not Versa related but I can't find any answers. By the way its a 2003 Mazda Protage5. THANXS!!

I would check for obstructions in the cylinder. The problem is likely caused by a mechanical failure or an object that may have fallen into the cylinder through the intake or while the plug was removed. The fix may require removing the head, removing the object (and repairing what may have caused it), and if the cylinder wall is scored, you may need to hone or even bore the cylinder (replacing the piston and/or rings...)

I am not sure do you want to try this method..... Sounds retard, but sometimes it works.

Use a shop Vac to see did you get anything by vacuuming it.

Of course, you better make sure that cylinder is at top dead position, and remove some valve spring, so the valves are loose, then try to vacuum it, and see can you hear anything or get anything out.

No, SuperTurbo's advice is dangerous (no offense). Your best bet is to find a mechanic with one of those scopes that allows you to see inside tight spaces... i forgot what they were called... I failed to mention it earlier. This will give you a clear picture of what exactly is going wrong, without taking anything apart.
