Need procedure to remove and replace spark plugs on a 1997 Maxima SE. I see the front 3 coils and the 2 philip screws that hold on the cap. I removed the 2 screws on one of the coils but could not pull off the coil. Do you need to remove the conecting wire first? That wouldn't even pull off.I'm assuming these are the colis. However, some of the posts say you must remove a cover for access to the plugs/coil. Am I looking at the wrong area?

Can you post a picture of the area you are looking at?

the coils are under the plastic cover that says "nissan v6 3000 twin cam 24 valve" take that cover off (4 bolts i believe). then take off each coil's two bolts, and with a firm pull, it should pull out. next, take the spark plugs out. if the 1997 max is like the 2001 max, the rear bank coils are accessible; just a little harder to get to. reach around and "feel" for where they are. try to do this on a cool engine so you don't burn yourself.

Be very careful if you're not sure about what you are doing as you can damage some parts. I think you are trying to remove the fuel injector instead of the ignition coil. You have already been given a link to the 97 Maxima FSM - use it.

The YouTube posting looks good.
