I just picked up a pretty clean NA Z32, and while it's well sorted out it is missing the bolt to hold down the spare tire. Rather than track down an OEM bolt, I figured I'd just get a generic bolt at a hardware store. All I need is the spec on the bolt. If anyone knows the diameter and threads please let me know. Thanks.

As apparently nobody on this site bothered to take the time to help me out on this, I took it upon myself to find the correct bolt size. For future reference, the correct bolt is an 8mm x 1.25 at least 50 mm long. Thanks for nothing, everyone.

Apparently you can't read or are ignorant, cause here is a guy trying to help. Chances are no one knew what the size was and since you are just a complete lazy a** and couldn't look for the size yourself, you decided to be a prick to the community. Good luck with all your en-devours without any help on these cars, since obviously you needed some help on just a bolt size. :inoutgay: :dblthumb:

I would have helped, but my Z is still in storage for another few weeks.

But with that attitude, you are on my ignore post reply list now.

Very glad you responded in the manner that you did as it gives me the opportunity to correct you as well as expand upon this Forum in general as well.

First off, apparently YOU can't read or are ignorant as I specifically stated that I did not want to buy an OEM piece. Therefore, the ONLY response I received was an unsolicited offer of a used part.

Secondly, if "no one knew what the size was" and no one was able to find out the size, what does that say about the technical knowledge here on the Technical Forum?

Thirdly, apparently I was neither too lazy, nor unable to look for the size as I found it out all by myself. It took about 2 hours of my time, but I got it done.

Lastly, if I wanted to be a "prick to the community" I would have kept the information to myself, but instead I posted it for everyone to see.

For what it's worth, Forums are set up for people to help each other out with the sharing of knowledge to make their experiences better. If not one member of the entire "community" is willing to take 5 minutes to pull back the carpet on their car, unscrew a bolt and put a die on it to help out another member, how strong is that community to begin with?

Now, if you're upset at this response, please go back and read it again and you'll realize that I am not looking to pick a fight, just trying to point out that we should all be trying to help each other out. While I am new to the Z32, when the time comes hopefully I'll be able to help someone else out with an issue they're having.

On your first note, you never stated you didn't want to buy an OEM piece, you only stated you didn't want to track one down

Second note, as a community we care more about our cars running in the technical section, not a bolt size

Third note, you were too lazy, because apparently it was just too hard to pull the carpet up to figure it out before posting, even though you claimed it takes 5 min.

And lastly, you were being a prick to the community whether you posted it or not. Not upset in anyway on response, most people people that want to be a part of a community don't bash because someone doesn't help. Most people have no clue what the size is or thread pitch without going to an auto parts store, hardware store, etc..

BTW, great first post, and way to bring it in on the second post. This is a great community, very helpful, but people have lives, work, and can help when they have the chance. Kudos on waiting almost a month before taking the time out of your busy life to find out your issue.

I am done on my rant, mods you may delete if I have strayed past the original task, and please lock this thread because the bolt size was found, which thank you for posting that OP.
