Just thought about something:

Having seen the Y50 strut bar, it is possible to ask them to design the Y51 bar in such a way that the engine cover doesn't have to be cut in any way? It's early enough in the process that I'd figured it was worth at least asking.
That's definitely a good point. Soul Function came by my house about 5-6 months to do a quick mock up the V8 engine bay. We definitely discussed some options, but we have to remember there isn't much room between hood liner and the top of the engine cover. When Soul Function contacts me to bring my car by again I will definitly bring it up to them. I also saw that Ilya brought this to their attention too.

Yeah I want to avoid cutting anything just in case when I sell the car I can bring it back to stock without having to buy an engine cover too, etc. Can't imagine those things are cheap.

I hear you on that. We'll have Soul Function take a look and see if they can work their magic.

Totally understood bro, I know there isn't much room but figured it was at least worth mentioning.

Too early in the process. Initial payments haven't even been taken yet

Here is the email:
Soul Function wrote: Thank you for your interest in the Front Strut Bar group buy for the M37/M56/Q70 Y51 platform! With a successful Y50 group-buy under our belts, we are very excited to take on another project and have the opportunity to develop and provide a unique part to you.

In order for the group buy to move forward, a $75 deposit is required from a minimum of 25 people. Deposits will be due by Saturday, July 29th. If the deposit requirement is not met, or the project encounters unexpected costs and is deemed unviable, everyone who has paid a deposit will receive a full refund. Once the design is final and the project deemed viable, your deposit will be Non-Refundable.

We have already begun development based on a M56 and will soon test on a M37 as well. The design should be finalized by the end of July and the color scheme will be the same as our existing Front Strut Bar products.

ACTION REQUIRED: An invoice of $75 will be sent to everyone on the list. Please confirm your participation by paying the deposit invoice.

We estimate the Strut Bars will be ready to ship before the end of the year, at which time you will receive an invoice for the remaining balance. Total part cost will be between $205 and $225 for all group-buy members.

Last but not least: More people participating in the group buy means lower costs for everyone involved. If you know anyone who might be interested, please share this email or my Facebook posts from the Fuga enthusiasts group.

We want to thank everyone on NicoClub and the Fuga FB group for driving interest and getting the initial list going. Special shout out to Ilya, Michael, and Nana - thank you, you guys rock!

Do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Andy Zhao and the Soul Function Team

I like this mod, but I am concerned about how the brackets are going to mount to the struts. There are lines and wire harnesses in the way which will have to be moved, as well as the hood clearance as mentioned before:

Switched to Imgur - looks like a much easier site to use!

Soul Function has already dropped by my house a couple of times and are addressing that issue as we speak. I have seen some of the prototypes and I think you guys will be pleased with their solution. Soul Function wants to make this installation as easy as they can for their customers!

Can we get any pics of the prototype? And work in progress images? : )

It's the same color as all of their other gear...teal color or whatever it is and black.

Hey guys, Andy here from Soul Function,

We've received 9 deposits so far and need at least 20 to keep this project alive. There are 25 people on the list so far but we are constantly looking for additional members to keep the final cost down for everyone! If you are reading this and are on the fence, please let me know what your concerns are and I will be sure to address them.

I will be sharing some of the pictures we took during our early development session - these will definitely address any concerns regarding all of the stock lines and brackets that currently litter the engine bay.

I can be reached via PM me here, on Facebook or at [email protected]

Happy to be here!

As promised, here's a first look at the bracket design. Easily clears all of the existing lines and brackets. This design is still a work in progress and is not final - we'll be adjusting some areas that will allow for even more clearance.
